The mandatory minimum wage being proposed will put some small enterprises out of business. Leading to even higher unemployment. And for those that think the economy is on the mend ask my daughter that just let go from her job what she thinks. Now isn't the time to raise minimum wage and health care cost on business.

I very occasionally eat at McD's. I think that the people working there would prefere that you treated them with a bit of respect over a pay rise.

I remember working for minimum wage, while going to school and living at home. It provided me with incentive to study more and work harder so I could enjoy and afford a better life today.

But as far as McDonald's and other fast food places go I wouldn't mind paying more if I could get the food the way I like it. Not burnt and over cooked or so much garnishment on the food that it detracts from what I have ordered.

As for tips I don't mind tipping as much as 50% as long as I get the service I should receive. When the service is not there the tip goes elsewhere.

what is happening to our country? these jobs were never intended to be a career. they were a place for someone to break into the job market and to prove theirselves to be honest, hardworking individuals who would act and dress appropriately. someone that could take direction and actually show up to work when they're scheduled. they were to provide you with a little money to get by while you looked for a real job. if it doesn't pay enough....then look for a better job.

You seem to be saying that only the poor get these kinds of jobs. The underclass who does not know how to dress or speak as you or show up on time, you know who those people are! They are the 47%.

It seems that with the collapse of the economy a job at MD is better than none and people who had "good" jobs are taking them and they already know how to dress and how to be on time and how to speak!

I already AM paying more for a Big Mac. When I worked at McDonald's a lifetime ago, Big Macs were 29 cents.

"Numbers don't lie but liars use numbers". There is no longer any sanity in wage distribution. The rich continue to get richer and the poor get poorer. And, the middle class shrinks. We are becoming a more service oriented society that is comprised of low level compensation. Does McDonald's have a profit sharing plan or 401-k plan ? Why can't all corporations have a philosophy that as the company goes so goes the employees ? When an employee has a stake in the company mentality changes dramatically. A lot of things that used to work in our society 50 years ago have long been forgotten. Today's executives are not nearly as intelligent as they think they are ..... but a lot more greedy.
"Numbers don't lie but liars use numbers"... (show quote)

You don't see that the policies coming from this president and his first two years in office have gone a long way to accelerate the weakening of an already weak middle class?

Just how is it that all these rich folks are getting richer? Are they producing more, are they creating economic activity that is rewarding them with wealth? Oh, Hell NO! They are feeding at the government trough or they are taking advantage of government policy that has the effect of lending extraordinary opportunity to the uber rich. Stop whining about corporations and look to the crooks who turn the keys to the kingdom.

Boy Sarg, where do you think up this drivel you post. Nowhere did he say "only the poor get these kinds of jobs"...Are these the jobs Obama promised us?

Sarge, think about that head of lettuce you buy or that fast food you buy. If the minimum wage is doubled as proposed it would surely increase every produce item and shipped item you buy in the supermarkets and cascade costs in every area of consumer produce and products. The minimum wage has never doubled in history, yet this recent proposal intends to do just that.

The main, and very hidden, reason politicians actually want to raise the minimum wage is because it boosts tax revenue.

I have friend with a small business and he can barely afford to pay an employee now. Raise the minimum wage and he is back to being a one man show working 80 hours a week just to keep his head above water.

Which fast food chain has the best cheeseburgers? I like Wendy's and Whoppers are pretty good. I am old and my arteries are clogged anyway so I'll go for it. What's your favorite?

For a fast food burger, hard to beat some of the $6 burger offering at Carl's Jr...

Maybe the business didn't go under, but they sure did raise their prices on their goods & services. Now that those people making the minimum wage can't buy what they want, it means they want an increase in the minimum wage again, leading to an ever increasing spiral of wage increases, price increases & inflation...As those wages go up, so does the cost of goods & services & ultimately inflation...
