I've been enjoying checking out the awesome photos that many of you have posted here. I enjoy taking pics of nature, seasonal landscapes, sunsets, bugs, the sky, guitars, motorcycles, and more. Having said that, I've mostly just used my ancient beat up Nikon point and shoot (Coolpix 2100), and I know very little about the highly technical aspects of photography that I see many of you discussing. I'm hoping to learn more and improve my skills as I read more here on UHH.

My other hobbies (mainly guitars) have kept me from spending big $$ on cameras, but I did just upgrade my old Nikon to a new Nikon L610 ... still just a $140 point and shoot, but better than what I had. I've only had it for a couple days, and am still studying the manual.

I have hundreds of digital pics that I've taken in the last 8 or so years, many of which I consider to be "decent", but I often wonder how good some of them may have looked if I'd had better gear, and if I really knew what I was doing. I think I'm ok at finding good shots, and getting good angles, but am still lacking in photography skills.

Here are a few of my favs. Hoping to share more later.

... also, I'm still not completely understanding if I should check the "store original" box.

Thanks for the welcomes, folks. If anyone cares to critique the photos I posted, feel free. As I said, they weren't taken with a professional camera, but I'm looking to improve my skills, and any suggestions could be helpful.

Hello and welcome guitar1580

I'm no pro, I am like you I just love taking pictures. The three you have posted look good to me. There are some great people on this forum, helpful, friendly and will go out of their way to help improve what you are trying to achieve.
There are quite a few sections in the menu have a scroll through them and familiarise yourself with what is available.
Cheers, Graham Thirkill

Welcome to the hog guitar, JT.... By checking store original box you allow us to see your photos much better. Please always do check that box. Also, all three of your images are excellent...composition and color and clarity are spot on!!!

Welcome, I do a lot of shooting in WV. I like Canaan and the Black Water Falls area. If you have not tried them, do, you will like them. Dale
