I have a canon eos 50d attached(t-ring, adapter etc.) to a celestron c-6 scope. The c-6 has a 1500mm focal length. I have the camera set on live view, standard picture style ,manual focus. The targets are 200+ yards away.
If I set the shutter speed @1600 in order to get a so-so image the ISO was set @2000. The light was good, so here are my questions.
Canon tells me that with that set up they are at a loss to advise shutter speed, - so-
what advise do you have in this case?
What is the relationship of shutter speed to Iso? Should I set up both speed and Iso in like manner. Both up or down?
I reduced the shutter speed to 1250 and the pic was not as clear(Same ISO)-why ?
Is my set up correct in this situation?

What are u talking about, you probably can't get the aperture down far enough to get the right exposer. The only way u might have a chance is with a tripod.
I ised a tripod and on the use of a c6 celestron telescope acting as the lens I can't set aperture.
because I'm shooting thru a telescope-the scope acts as the lens. the only adjustments that can be made are ISO and Shutter speed. my question is do I set the two up or down together or are they set in oposire directions- that is one down the other up? The camera is a Canon EOs 50d the scope has a 1500MM focal length- I have a fine Canon 80-250MM lens but that isn't enough to get the pics I want at 200-300 yards. I'm trying to avoid purchasing a 1000-1500MM lens.

You have a fixed aperture, so try putting the camera on Aperture Priority and then play with the ISO, starting low and changing to higher and higher. You'll have to make test shots like this until you can get it figured out. The higher the ISO, the faster the shutter speed.
the lower the ISO you can get away with the less "noise" you will have in your pictures, it may mean longer exposures but with the tripod that shouldn't be a problem
the aperture is fixed at an unknown setting. on the c6 scope of a focal length of 1500 MM I have set the shutter spped at 1600. The aperture values can not be changed. At what point should I start with for the ISO value? I do have a very good tripod and a electronic remote shutter release.
If I set ISO @ 100 and increase it can I every achieve a good pix? keep in mind the targets are 150-250 yards from camera and scope.
The Canon EOS 50D camera is attached to the Celestron C6 telescope. The scope is a fixed 1500MM and allows only manual focus.
it has been my experience that the lower the ISO the better the pic..less noise..so start at ISO 100 and see what you come up with
How are you triggering the camera? If you’re not using some sort of cable or electronic trigger, you’re bound to get some vibration from your hand that will affect the quality of the image.

Something has gone wonky with main forum. This topic originated in 2011 and that is when the last post was made, prior to yours. I see that Gene51 has replied to three others
Are you guys mistakenly working from the <last> navigation link rather than <next> from the main discussion page? Probably there's not that much new to add to posts started in 2011.

I knew the world had gone crazy, but this is weird even by those standards 😁

Yeah, thanks! I don’t usually make zombie threads, but I’’m guilty here. Don’t like the new format and I’m working from my iPhone (without my glasses)
