Perhaps I may have wanted something that was never made or considered in the first place. However that is, I do have a Sigma 70-300mm which is pretty heavy. It's usually mounted along with the tripod.
I do enjoy it however, when I use the Vivitar 2x extender, I cannot use the AF on the lens. It has trouble recognizing the distance of the subject. I have to use the MF to get the absolute greatest distance out of it. On the final pic, there is a slight bokeh around the edges which looks like a vintage shadow frame. It doesn't happen all the time.
The Nikkor lenses are quite nice and I didn't realize the higher end quality of them compared to Canon.
Thanks a lot for making that clear. $6k will buy 9 of my cameras using the Nikkor lens.

Sigma lens state that they need Sigma extender to be compatible

You lose infinity focus without a lens to correct for that.

I think that is for mounting the old FD lens not EF. Could be wrong.[/quote]

Yes, You can find it on Ebay, I had one to put the Canon FD mount lens on my Nikon, but the image was bad, due to the poor quality of the concave lens (for correction of the focus)in it. I can't found an other better one. Giving up!!

What adapter would I need to mount my Nikon mount Tamron 90mm 2.8 Macro on a friend's Canon 6D? Would it meter and autofocus?

I have seen some dynamite Canon lenses and would not mind having one on my Nikon D5100.
I have not seen where one can buy a nice super-telephoto for these Nikons.
I have tried at Amazon but no luck even typing everything possible for it to come up.
Adapters ? Yep. For the Canons to retrofit Nikon lenses. I would not mind owning a 70-500mm
or something close.
Has anyone a clue for this idea OR am I shooting towards the sun ?? 8-)

The mount to focal plane distance is deeper on Nikon- Canon lenses won't focus to infinity.

Whatever lenses Canon makes, you can probably get a counterpart for made by Nikon. Both companies cover about the same ranges in focal length in their arseanls.

I think you are all right about finding one that would work. My action shots have turned out
pretty nice actually even using the 3D setting on the screen. Once I adjust for contrast and a little
color, DOF is great. I have found through Amazon a bunch of Sigmas for all cameras, Nikon,
Canon, Pentax, etc...and they start about $800. and go up. here's the link:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_12?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=nikon%2050-500mm&sprefix=nikon+50-500%2Celectronics%2C586&rh=i%3Aelectronics%2Ck%3Anikon%2050-500mm

I've not owned a lens that cost more than the camera as yet, however
I may just have to buy my base lens and keep the rest for portraits.
Thanks for all the input. 8-)

I recently bought this adaptor and love it. Check out all the lenses that are compatible. I got it for $189. Nikon sells it for almost $100 more.

Nikonic should just get a Canon 7D and all the Canon lenses will work just fine. :D

You're exactly right. I'll start buying nice Nikon products and the lenses should fit fine.
Especially like the Sigmas and Nikkors like I already have.

Tamron makes the 90-mm macro lens in Canon mount as well as Nikon mount. You can buy an adapter to mount Nikkor lenses on Canon bodies, but you may find problems with Auto-aperture and A-F. Best to use a lens made with the proper mount.

Is it the white lens you want or good glass? Nikon for sure has as good as if not better glass than Canon. For a price...you pay for good glass.

There are also adapters out there, to fit Canon lenses to Nikon bodies.

Outstanding speters ! This is what my thread topic is. How amazing is that.
Do you have a link so I can find one? Everyone so far says I cannot fit a Canon lens to a Nikon body.
Where did you find this adapter ?

I've heard that Bower makes that adapter, I don't know anything about the quality of it.

I bought an adaptor to mount the Nikon 500 f4 (manual focus)on the Canon 5D II. Image quality was unacceptable to me.
