I use one on my Canon T3 Rebel D1100 with a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 telephoto lens and it works fine. Wouldn't use my camera without it. Makes camera safe and easy to carry around and also takes the load off your fingers and places the load on your entire hand. I would say buy it and try it, you will love it!

I would have second thought about buying the one on ebay. It attaches to the tripod socket and you have to move your strap to attach to the tripod socket also. Plenty of discussions here about the safety of using the tripod socket bushing for straps.

Wrong, if you notice when the strap is attached to the camera tripod attach fitting the strap has a 1/4 -20 female internal fitting , strap stays attached, tripod attaches, there ya go, "RockOn"
I'm thinking that the reason things come off is because they were not attached securely in the first place and checked frequently,
Just sayin.

Not a response for the OP, in that it addresses a different kind of hand-strap, but today I acquired a BlackRapid hand strap that attaches to the ring on the tripod socket with a BR carabiner. Eager to try it, but have also ordered OpTech Adapt-its to change point of connection to strap lug.

WARNING: As I have stated in the past, I use my BR gear to carry a light μ4/3 body and lens, and I frequently examine the connection. I am happy to know that some people successfully carry DSLRs and long lenses on BR straps...... BUT I still do not recommend carrying a full size DSLR and heavy lens by the tripod connector; if you insist on doing so, use a safety tether (preferably light braided wire) from one or both strap lugs of the camera body or (if there id no other option) a secondary tripod socket to the carabiner-type clip.

UPDATE: If you use a BR system or any other system with an interchangeable shoulder pad, BR now has a pad with a Pac-Safe type wire around the perimeter of the pad to prevent theft by cutting the pad.

I have one, works very well. Comes with an additional buckle
for adding the "broken" neck strap.
