Tiny white spider.

Macro 1:1 I was photographing the grass to see if I could capture the detail when this tiny spider ran up into the frame. I couldn't believe it, as if it was auditioning for a part. So I adjusted the camera and refocused on the spider. This was a lucky shot.

Can anyone identify the critter?

WOW - how delightful! Gorgeous light and composition and a super-neat spider (don't know the species). Way to go!

I believe it is one of the Crab type spiders. Don't know the genes and all that. Nice shot even though I can't stand spiders like Sarge. Cheers.

Great shot. How did you get that black background? Did you ever think about what was crawling up your leg while that spider was crawling in the grass? :D

Looks a bit like the goldenrod crab spiders they change colors from yellow to white. However, the tummy doesn't look right for that species. Nice sharp image. (from Gimli?)

Thanks. The background was in deep shadow and when I adjusted in post it went black, made for good contrast. The light source is direct sun. The spider was so small that I would never have noticed it if it didn't run into the frame. My grass seed head photo just got better. The spider was around 2mm in length.

I thought it was a crab spider after googling it. It was invisible till it moved. I see your in Calgary, hope you weren't effected by that flood. I make it out to Gimli about 4 times a year. Nice place.

Excellent lighting, great detail. It looks like a "soon-to-be-squashed" spider had I been there. ;-)

thanks, I think it's a crab spider. The shot was more luck then skill. I'm not fond of spiders either.
