Has anyone tried using a lens from their sunglass to substitute for a filter. Some time out in the field a filter can be forgotten, and I've been thinking that if you have a pair of polarized sunglasses they might be able to give a different rendition of a filter on the camera.

Ha! Should I even admit this? A long time ago I would ski in Colorado and have a Kodak Instamatic (126 film) camera on a strap under my jacket. Part of the camera's leather case was a strap that went across the front with an opening for the lens. A sunglasses lens would fit between the strap and lens -- tight enough to stay put, too! The results looked a little like it was taken through a sunglass lens but better than being totally washed out by snow and bright sun. i.e., it worked!

Glasses are usually curved - so will distort - but if it is art you are after!!!!
