Not mainstream pictures of Seattle...
There are allot of places in Seattle to take photos, and by many accounts I would bet that most on here have seen them. These are a few that I have taken that, as far as I know, are atypical, and I wanted to see what you all think of them.

I call this "A journey's beginning"
Im a HUGE Seahawks fan so...
Just an interesting ally way
and of course a ferry
interesting indeed. i'm not usually much of a fan of street photography, but i really like the shot of the alley... great job capturing the gritty, seedy feel of the place!
here are a few other shots of seattle...all straight from camera...
ho hum...
ahhh the magnolia tree!
land mark of course
my contribution to the bubblegum wall
tulip time at pike place market
the alley shot is great! I'm a big fan of B&W. :-P :-D
Thanks for the comments Squirlo33, and Jal. I have to say that the B&W picture is actually the first that I have taken with the intent to make it look as it did when I was done, so I'm glad that it is the one that pops out of the 4.
AnnaBanana, great photos. The only thing that lets me know that you didn't go on the same day as I did is that there are leaves on the tree. the rest look just as it did when I went last Friday.
Terrific photographs, Steve. All with great composition, and all different in that regard. "Journey" is a study in composition by the rule of thirds, and it works! Beautiful control of the balance between light and dark (the ancients called it chiaroscuro). Ya got talent!
Good framing of the ship with the tree....but...Magnolia?
Magnolia blossoms are 10 inches across.
Looks more like a dogwood to me.

Lots of good stuff. Lots to scrutinize and think about. I like the general composition and mood of "Journey's beginning" except that the boat is headed out of the picture. I think it should have less space behind than in front.Geo.K.

Thank you for the reply. On "Journey's Beginning" I just want to let you know that normally I would compose a photo where the subject is pointing toward the middle of the photo, however, on this one I did it hat way to emphasize the boat leaving the rest of what is in the photo behind. I do agree that typically, a subject should face the center of the photo.
Thank you for your observations, and I would like to know what you think of the other photos too.
for sure that is a dogwood...silly me

On that Pike Place Fish Co pic...did the sign on those King Crab legs read $34.99lb.?!?
If so, for that price Capt. Sig Hanson should deliver them to my home, and probably steam 'em up for me.

Steve did you use a Red filter for the B&W alley shot?

A bus stop from downtown Seattle. I thought B&W was the way to go as well.

I was working in Seattle a few years ago and a truck cut that corner and took out a big section of that bus stop. With all that old ornamental iron,I'm sure the bill to the insurance company was'nt cheap!
