Anybody have a clue what this bug is?
Could it be a dragonfly just coming out
That was my guess also, ugly looking.
yes it was alive and was when I finished taking this photo.

If you are anywhere near water, I'd say that's an emerging adult dragonfly.
If we have these in St. George, I am staying in the house!!

I had no idea that you got gay dragonflys.
Maybe it got interrupted before it could fully inflate its wings.

It got interrupted all right as soon as I spotted the ugly thing.

We do have a couple ponds near by.
We are on the other side of S.G. off of Bluff and East of the freeway in a little development called Countryside. Been here 2 years after moving from Cedar and before that, we came from Minnesota. We love it here and trading the winters in Cedar for the heat here in the summer is well worth it! Nice to hear from you! :)
