Hey Folks,
Well I'm going back in time now...this photo is from September 2008. Taken from atop the Space Needle in Gatlinburg TN which gives those brave enough to take the elevator to the top...a view of surrounding area 407 feet up! It's a great view...but me, I hate heights, especially when things sway in the wind, like this tower does. Gatlinburg is located at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

Great shot James! I *love* Gatlinburg and would've gone up in the space needle in a second! Did you ride the ski lift to the top of the mountain? It's been many years since we've been there and there was no space needle at that time.

No...if there isn't something below my feet, I don't ride it. There is another ride that takes you over the mountains, the Ober Ski lift. I think what your referring to is the chairlift ride...it a short trek up a mountain side right in Gatlinburg, it too scares me to death.

You ought to take a Goldwing up the Mountain -Ober Ski lift and have to wait for paving half way up. The grade and switchbacks are pretty steep.

The wait for paving would be welcomed...time to clean out the drawers. In places...its Treacherous (sp?) and bad enough for cars. The Smokies are however a bikers haven...lots of good roads that wind each and everyway possible. I see them in big packs and little packs roaming the roadways.

Love it, James! I haven't been to Gatlinburg in years, and this makes me want to go back. Do they still have all the candy shops?
