Back in my days of using a dark room the same thing applied. If you bought a funnel that was designated as a darkroom funnel it cost 5.00. If you bought the same thing from a hardware store it cost 1.00. Don't pay for labels, buy something that will work for you regardless of what it was intended for.

Think Tank makes excellent bags. Go to this site & you can get a free gift with any purchase over $50...

Give "Mooseeyes" answer a good bit of thought. Best "all around " answer I have read sense reading this blog x 1.5 years.

Some of you guys need to think a little more prior to your replies. In many cases having all the specs of what a person is loking for only muddies the quest.

If you go this route, be sure there is adequate padding in the bag you select. Many of the bags intended for other uses are lacking in the padding department...

Here is what I have been doing for years. First, I don't try to fit everything I own in one bag. I use multiple bags, each for a different purpose; e.g., my infrared bag.

Also, I stay away from traditional camera bags. They cost way too much, they generally are black, and can be spotted as a camera bag by those who like to steal high end cameras for drug money. I find my bags at places like Bass Pro Shop, Cabelas, Home Depot, OSH, Lowells, etc. Keep you eyes open and be creative. For example, check out the various soft sided fishing tackle boxes, lots of bright colors, lots of compartments, and dirt cheap when on sale. Look at shooter's range and/or rifle bags.

If you buy a photo accessory at a camera store, you will likely pay three prices for it. If you can find something that will do the same job elsewhere, you will likely pay less and find something that will fit your needs better.

When I invent a product, I'm going to add Pro to the name. Or maybe Heavy Duty. Or Platinum Edition.

I am looking at the "think Tank" models.I like the suitcase style, but want to be able to back pack it also.I think I'm going to go with a larger one without straps and then mount it on a backpacking frame
for hiking. The backpacking frames have superior straps with belts.Good luck.

Can someone help me find a large camera bag to buy that can hold 2 DSLRs with lenses and flash. Thank you!

I bought a Canon D 40 and the store through in a TAMRAC backpack. It was about 150 bucks retail to purchase.

Point is that i love the BP. I have 2 bodies and 100 mm macro, 2 50 mm, 2 zoom mid range and one Sigma 100-500. Then all extras like batt packs etc

Lots of room. Easy side and front access.

Recommend at least looking at BP as your solution BUT go to camera store and check em out,

Bon chance

John

this is the bag I have been using for several years, it works great for me..comes with a lifetime warranty.
I actually had bought an earlier model off of ebay,, after a few years one of the wheels cracked, I contacted the company to see if I could get a replacement wheel, they told me since the bag came with lifetime warranty, I should just send the bag back and they would send me a new one.. when I gave them the model number they said it was discontinued, but if I approved they would send me the newer model, and then told me it was so new it wasn't even on their website yet, that I would be getting the very first one.

this is a pic of my bag and gear, upper right corner is 2 flashes stacked, bottom left is 2 lenses stacked lower body has 28-75 2.8 lens , upper body 70-200 2.8 which is partially blocked due to the angle. http://images19.fotki.com/v276/photos/8/86568/336006/DSCN0114-vi.jpg

If you haven't already purchased a camera bag, I have a Pelican rolling carry-on bag with additional computer pocket that zips on. As it turned out, I was not able to use it on regional jets without having it taken below to cargo so it has only been out of the closet one time. It easily carries two DSLR's and long lenses plus more. If you might be interested in it, I will send pictures (I don't think the model can be viewed online anymore). It is same as new. Email at: dmeyer2m@frontier.com.

Believe it or not, I have used a diaper bag. The walls are usually padded, the bottle holders hold the lens. Plenty of zipable pouches for wipes, extra cards, batteries. NOBODY will steal it! And the price is very low.

I have a Tamrac Pro Systems 608. It holds 2 DSLRs, 2 lenses and a speedlight, plus accesories. I have had it for 15+ years and it is still in good shape. I carry everything in it for trips and on planes. For day use (walking around) I use a Tamrac Zoom Pac 517 also for the past 15+ years. Has a shoulder strap AND a waiste strap for extra security. Toured most of Italy, Ireland, and Yellowstone in the last couple years. Keeps the camera on your hip and readily accessible without flashing your expensive camera around your neck to theives.

themes: Mooseeyes is on the right track. I have two different size Kelty backpacks that I purchased from REI. They zip open from the from the back side (opposite from the shoulder strap side), not the top like most packs. I also have two different size foam inserts that I purchased from fstopgear.com. Check them out. They also have great packs but way out of my price bracket. Good luck. It can be a problem for some of us.
