I often think of the song by Kansas, Dust in the Wind--not sure why but it always makes me think about photography when they say, "Close your eyes for a moment and the moments gone"

I get the drift but, at age 83, I suggest, "close your eyes and embrace the moment."

At the risk of upsetting a post,

It is Robert Capa who said "if your picture isn't good enough, your not close enough" not Alfred Eisenstaedt.

Eisenstaedt is certainly a very important figure in the history of photography but not for that quote.

Agreed! Many moons ago I favored OVid's, Carpe diem -- seize the day ( moment). Nowadays I don't get to seize or squeeze much of anything'

Ansel Adams

Ansel was such a great photographer, I went to his Teton Mountain overlook twice now and i had fun talking with the photogs there. All waiting for the light to hit that mountain just right, never happens, or at least not when I'm there. A really great reproduction of his photo is not where it's at, but it sure is a nice place to make photos. Always bad weather, but sometimes thats good as the light is unpredictable.

Ansel had a ladder when he made his famous photograph here. he stood halfway up the ladder and where the wall is now.

I have composed my own sayings with regard to the challenge and pursuit of awesome photos.

"Chasing the Light links Mind to Sight"

and

"The challenge of photography is to take a 3D experience, transport it to a 2-D medium and not lose any of the emotion of that experience"

These keep me in a constant flux of perfectionism...which is possibly my undoing as well.lol
