Hello, i have read the topics for the last couple of weeks, and learned a lot. I have found there are very well informed people giving great advice. I do believe i have found a site that will be around for a long time. Best of all no mean spirit people,no question is dumb and compassion for all subjects. My topic is about flash brackets, whats the up and down side of using them?
What do you want to shoot?
Cheers,

Used a setup from Ritz on my Rebel. Nice non-dedicated flash and frame, did the job, added weight can be an issue, but newer models are lighter, so not sure it is an much of problem nowadays. Lately, have opted for dedicated flash with either a deflector or diffuser and am pretty happy with it. Less weight, smaller overall. Never liked the on-camera cord set up. Like most accessory items, it is one of those things that comes in handy when you need it. Seen pro's shoot with and without. Good luck.
The ideal bracket will hold your flash about 18" above the lens. It will rotate or swivel to keep the flash above the lens when you're shooting vertical or horizontal. I use to buy aluminum bars and make my own. Good luck with that.

I have no idea, maybe the over top. I have a Sony alpha 350 DSLR,I have seen different photos being taken using the mounted bracket, thanks for any info you give.
You will definitely need the off camera flash cord for your Alpha 350. The Sony hotshoe mounts are totally different than any other standard flash socket.

Same here, they are expensive but they are the best
Thank you all for your input and help, wow did i learn something new. Two-three flashes for one unit. I take a lot of free hand pictures in dim or dark rooms, very high ceilings, banquets, two to five people in picture, on a podium, i am on the floor. I thought with a flash bracket it would help with the lighting. Thanks again all!!!
