Had to make an emergency trip to N.C. to help my son after knee surgery, had some damage in the knee causing some artheritus (sp????) to flare up. They cleaned out some damaged area, put in a cadaver plug and cut a section of his tibia to repair part of the knee. The kid is only 23. Stationed at Fort Bragg, but has house off base. He is teaching me to relearn how to drive stick shift, very nerve wracking because I know if I am jerking the car he is feeling it. So I really apologize for not responding to PM s. Will try to catch-up a bit everyday. Not the best pics but taken with small Kodak.
A sad story ... but glad to know you're where you are needed.
Speedy recovery to you !!
Thanks So much Big Bear!!!!!

My son had a similar surgery about 16 months ago, he is doing well today. Hoping your son heals quickly!
I feel his pain. When I was stationed at Ft. Sill, I was running on the track one day when I took a wild ride to the moon and back. My arthritis was so bad that my knees just shattered and I had to have both knee joints replaced at the same time. I was only 19 at the time. There went any chance of a military career.
This did not stop me from playing semi pro hockey though.
He really damaged it to have surgery that extensive today. Us old guys use to have it but that's because they didn't know any better. Hope you both come out of this soon.

Thanks for the update. He's young. He'll heal. Be sure to take care of yourself, too.

It looks like he had a good orthopedic surgeon. It's a nice clean job. One of my sons had to have surgery on both knees, courtesy of the U. S. Army; both were training injuries. Now, because of his knees, they're trying to kick him out - after 18 years. Medical discharge, but no veteran benefits. Oh, did I mention that the second injury happened in Iraq at a combat outpost. And all that happened to me was a lot of people calling me names like "baby killer"!
