1)Apply Fluorecent powder (orange or pink ) to a sheetrock wall or magazine cover.
2) Use an ALS or Alternative light source. An alternative light source is strong LED light that produces different strengths of light or wavelengths of light, measured in Nanometers. This light will illumate/reveal the fluorecent powdered fingerprint.
3) The use of a colored filter is required in order to block or reduce some of the light produced by the ALS. An orange, yellow or Red colored filter can be used. The filter aids in viewing the fingerprint and when screwed onto the lens allows the print to be photographed.
The use of all three techniques above produced the print I submitted. It was inside a dark room on a sheetrock wall. I used a DSLR Nikon D300S, 60mm nikkor Micro lens.
These ALS light sources can also reveal body fluids, blood, bruises, and fingerprints. We use them alot for Crime Scene searches. I'm currently using the ALS to discover bruising under the skin thats invisible to the eye. Once the print has been photographed with and without a measuring scale. The print can be converted to a 1:1 ratio for latent print analysis.

Thank's for the breakdown on the procedure. Circa 1966 I took an extensive correspondence course from the Institute of Applied Science which covered Photography, Hand Writing analysis, and finger printing. I have been retired for nineteen years and have been out of touch with the Forensic science field.
