I've been working with children a lot lately.
Love a challenge but WHOA!!!

I find that the best photos of children are the spontaneous candid shots.

I have to agree, and natural backgrounds work for me better than traditional studio.

I agree regarding backgrounds. ]
I sell myself as an on location photographer or environmental photog

I try not to use fake backgrounds when I can.
If that's what the client wants, so be it, but it never really works for me.

I LOVE the second one! I work with children a lot in the studio. Ages 2 to 5 are usually my favorite. Especially when there is only one per photo shoot.

I've learned a valuable lesson this holiday season.
Family portraits with babies are impossible if the children are awake. LOL

I agree with you also, catching a child or teen while they are involved in something will offer some neat photo possibilities.

I enjoy photographing children I have tried to speed up my response time so that can capture those precious moments. Your shots are great keep it up. We can all learn something as we look at others work it may stimulate and idea or thought we would like to try. :)

One of my best props for 2-5 yr olds this Christmas childrens shoot season is a wooden stool that has 3 steps leading up to the seat. I turn it backward and catch the little ones as they are climbing up the back. So cute and works so well. I will try to post an example tomorrow. I am on my phone internet at the moment. Had a couple of great toddler shoots today! Love those toddlers. Their joy and laughter is so deep and genuine. But then again, so is their fear and screaming. Lol.
