You might need some cannon balls to go with that cannon if you with to shoot the cannon. Otherwise, a Canon camera will only require that you use a memory card of some sort so you can take pictures.

I sent these photos in once before in response to a similar question, so I'm sorry if you've seen them before, but that time they were on page 3 or 4 of a thread, so many may not have seen them. They're all taken from the same spot--never moved my feet, since I was testing the quality and scope of the zoom for myself. I took them in Siena, Italy, last November. The building is the 14th-century Palazzo Pubblico, their city hall. The overview is at full wide angle; the zooms. both at the 1200 maximum, are details of the tower on the left side of the building, which is over 90 meters, over 300 feet tall. I'm probably about the same distance away from the ground-level of the building. If I tell you there are gargoyle-like creatures sticking out of the corners of the gray stone portion of the tower near the top, you might be able to just see them in the overview. In the details, you can actually see the carved dates from the 1820s when these replacement decorative elements were installed, along with the more recent steel reinforcements keeping one of them in place. The bottom line is that I was impressed by the quality of the zoom. All photos were hand-held. For the zooms, I used the 2-second delay, since I found that at that degree of zoom, squeezing the shutter risked pulling the camera a bit off-line, and the 2 seconds gave me time to re-frame.

I bought my Canon SX50 a few weeks ago. I love it. The picture quality is excellent and, at the full zoom of 50x I have been able to take hand-held shots where no motion blur is visible unless you enlarge the picture considerably. I am amazed at the image stabilization that this thing has.

This is a good explanation of the differences if you don't go by their "winner" status alone...it's good to sort out the differences.

Absolutely right. I cite Snapsort frequently just because they do compare features, including the advantageous features of the camera with the lower score.

Looking for some input to help me decide in getting one of this cameras, the Cannon SX50 or the Fujifilm HS50 EXR. These 2 are within affordability range for me and appear to be great cameras for the price. Input on any other good quality cameras of the same features and price range are also welcome.
Thanks in advanced.

They're both very nice well-made cameras. The Fujifilm will likely be available cheaper but that also carries the problem that it will be worth less if you decide to sell it and move up later. Fuji cameras just don't hold their value like a Canon, although both lose value quickly as newer higher resolution versions come out. At the less than $400 range that shouldn't matter much anyway.

Rumor has it that Fuji cameras are made by Pentax and that's certainly a good thing. On a review site I saw a Pentax and Fuji sitting next to each other and they were identical except for the name so I can believe it. With that said... the Canon SX50 is far more popular because it's one of the Big 3 best known manufacturers and is excellent as well.

It's completely personal preference. I've always been one to be slightly outside the norm (Kawasaki motorcycle while everybody else had a Honda, for example) so I have considered a Fuji as a backup to my Sony Alpha dSLR (see there - not a Nikon or Canon but a Sony outside the norm) as a replacement for my Panasonic Lumix older backup. Others would buy Nikon or Canon. I think you'd be quite happy with either one.
