BigBear, Thank you and that one has a nest that I plan to
spend some time trying to get better shots at. The nest is
quite high up and he is small and it is hard to focus on him/her.

Morris, best place to look out for them is around dead pines. High winds from Katrina peeled the bark off pines causing them to die. The insect life inside of dead pines is like a Sonic Drive-In to a woodpecker. They pull grub worms and termites out of them like an aggressive dentist extracts teeth. Also makes for great shots. but you are correct. I started seeing them last year and
they seem to have made a home here. They really like
the low border type bushes to hide in. LoL mdh
