They are nearly blind in sunlight. I walked right up on one a few months ago. It startled me when I saw it but the owl just sit there.

I just recently was informed that this is a Barred Owl, the only owl that doesn't have yellow eyes...actually I'm surprised that this wasn't pointed out by a UHH member, there's so many birders on here.
