love them steamers.. my father. god bless him .. worked for
the reading railroad ..as a breakman it was a rough job in
all kinds of weather...when i was a kid we lived a couple blocks .. from the frankford junction.. there was a
horrible train wreck there during the 2nd w.w .. they where
using family homes for the casualtys .. i,ll never forget
that. i love to watch & listen to them puffers ...

You are so right - these old steamers are full of memories for we "mature" folks.

I rode the train there a few times in the early 1970's. These excellent pictures really bring back great memories. One trip was a "Dinner Train" to Oakdale and return. I think Engine #3 had a small diesel helper engine. Picture number 1 is my favorite. I may post a couple of mine if I can locate them and scan them (slides).

Great shots. If you take these shots into PP and into the effects pallettes you could make them look like they were taken in 1897. A little flat graytone and some grain or scratches and they'd look like Great Grandpa took them and passed them down to you.
