Jerry, I visited Boston once. I don't remember seeing any, but then again, I was on vacation , not business or there for medical treatments.

In fact Boston is one of the Western Hemisphere’s most important Medical Meccas!

Since the recent developments in Boston many public venues are forbidding backpacks and such. For those of us that carry a bag full of lenses this may require a rethink of bridge cameras.

It will blow over soon enough and return to normal, this is just a case of local administrators having an irrational, impulsive reaction to a shocking event. History is full of bombs going off, assasinations, etc. - but people get over it. Afterall, paying for extra security guards to stop visitors with backpacks costs money. These newly hired guards will probably be the first thing cut at the next budget review.

So, I guess I may be the only one who might agree with the ban. Yes, it won't stop every type of weapon or bomb from being smuggled into an area, but it may prevent the mass killing/maiming type of weapons that we saw in Boston. I think it may be hard to hide and carry (weight) a pressure cooker in a purse or brief case...........and I am a proponent of the right to carry. Even though I have a carry permit and am a hunter, I welcome the need for stronger background checks, and never felt the need for more than 6 shells in anything I was carrying, including my hunting shotgun. Yes, I will inconvience myself a little if it will save an 8 y.o.s life, or someone from getting their legs blown off. Blame radical Islam for the inconvience, not those who are trying to protect us. What would you have said if they had banned backpacks BEFORE this happened? We are just learning the extent of this threat !!

until america wakes up and realises this evil low down cult they call a religion. the musliums are just getting started here as they have been in the rest of the world. and we ban them completely and run the idiots out of this country, thats the only way to take us back to a safer america. plain and simple!!!! this is not a religion that brain washes its followers to kill anyone that don,t join them. thats not a religion its a cult.!!!

Where do you get one of those fake Nikon lens deals? For the past five years I've been taking pictures of the annual Hot air balloon rally up here and have walked wherever I wanted. This year was the first time a rent-a-cop asked me if I had any beer in my camera bags. For the life of me I can't understand why some folks want to harm others. I just want to take pix. I'd not mind finding out where to get one of those lens holders because if I'm going to get croaked, I want to start drinking so I feel nothing. I use NIKON products only, but I'd bet my bottom dollar no-one would know the difference from a Nicon or Canon. They'd probably be paranoid if they saw the word Canon. I have a D70, and a D5100 and a pretty good bag I carry all the other crap I need to need when I need it. I haven't had a problem yet. If I ever do, I sure could use one of those fake lenses.  8-)

I just got one a few weeks ago but the company that had it sold out. It is a plastic Canon 24-105mm lens copy and unless you know it you can not tell the difference! I know, I own the lens and compared them. There were two versions. One had an opening on top to drink out of. The one I got you must unscrew the top to drink, it becomes a regular glass. It also makes a nice bank,no one would think to unscrew the top to see what you have hidden inside. I now wish I had bought two, they were only $12.00!

If I see it again I will be sure to post a link. Maybe murm has a different supplier?

Here is a Nikon:

That would be like trying to take away my Glenmorangie 18 Year Old SM. The only thing worse would be to pour some for someone and have them ask me to add ice and soda. Death to all such heathens!

There is one, however, I'd trade for. The Balvenie Fifty is $37,000/bottle or $3400 per shot. I'll never get to try it unless miniatures become an international monetary standard like diamonds or gold.

As I said before, "Death to all such heathens!", but in this case it would be slow, lingering and very painful. Drawn and quartered by Giant Tree Sloths!
