Hi Wayne!! Welcome to the site. But you have to kidding right, you aren't going to take your new toy out of the box, charge the battery and play!!! :):) We have a good time here while we learn. As you can see by looking around the site there are some awesome folks that hang out here. If you need any help there are a lot of Canon folks here. I don't know why tho when Nikon makes a nicer camera.:):):) But have fun with us and you can find out what you need to know at the top of the page in the menu. Make sure you start a buddy list. It will help you keep up with the folks you like to talk with.

Canon EOS Rebel T3i. Looked around a lot but got a good price on this from Adorama, under $5oo. Going to take an online class on this camera and lean heavily on you guys for help. Hope to have a long and friendly relationship with everyone here!

Hi mugwhump: Welcome to the forum. The Canon T3i is a great camera, I'm sure it will give you lots of shooting pleasure. What lenses did you get with it? Let me recommend this website on various Canon lenses because it will help in two ways. 1. It will give you a better understanding of the various qualities of lenses Canon offers and 2. it will help you understand the different lens types and how they are used.
http://photonotes.org/articles/beginner-faq/lenses.html It will probably save you some money and frustration in the long run.
My other thought is don't let the camera overwhelm you. Read the manual, ask questions if there is something you don't understand. There is also a great search feature in this site, at the top of the page third tab over is the search tab, Just click on it type in the subject you have a question about, hit enter you'll have a whole lot of information, more than you may have expected, will be at the tip of your finger. We all started as beginners at one time or another. Taking an online class specific to your camera is a good idea, it will certainly give you a great starting point. There is also a mountain of information to internalize... Take your time you have to crawl before you can walk, well some of us do, and walk before you can run. Before long you'll be helping the newbies learn from you. Again Welcome.

What is with all these "new" members piggybacking on ONE member's intro??
Each one of you that is new needs to "Create New Topic" to be posted under "Introduction" section.
Hi Wahawk: If I had to venture a guess I'd say they didn't know how to post their own topic, until you shared that information with them. You are indeed correct in pointing out that is a better way for them to introduce themselves. We all have to start some where. Apparently they didn't know how to or where to start. Now thanks to you they do.
