Why are colors "off" on some submitted photos?

Maybe some computer guru can explain this to me.

When I submit an image to this forum, the colors are "muted". But if I select "store original" and someone "downloads" the image, it opens with the proper colors. Then when you close the "download" the color is muted again.

I've loaded many photos in the past only to have people tell me the colors are off. I've seen where others have mentioned that their images looked better on their screen before uploading them too.

:hunf: :!:

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the image is being resized when submitted on here?

Do you see the colors correctly when "downloading" original and viewing it right in your browser?

Yes. The colors look fine in photoshop. Then I load them to the forum they don't look right. Then I discovered that if I allow the image to be viewed larger (by selecting store original), the colors are correct when the image is downloaded.

Why would the image look two different ways when stored in the forum?

How do the colors look if you open that image locally in your browser?

If I open a folder of images in Windows Photo Viewer and "preview" each shot, they look fine. But if I click on "slideshow" the colors are off again. But I assume this is my computer's fault.

You need to view it directly in your browser.
I suspect whatever graphics software you are using applies different palette. So you need to open the image in your browser, just as if you were viewing it on some website, but do it locally.

There is no difference in the colors of any of my photos that I downloaded to this site than on my computer.
