you claim to be a marine? no doubt you stood before real bullies in real combat in your day, and now you are going to let a few invisible cyber bullies dictate your actions? you are just another commercial banker to me.

It's not so much giving in, as not wanting to spend my remaining years dealing with it. I have fought the good fight, but now it's finally time to settle into old age and avoid the conflicts. Just tired of it all. The social media thing just depresses me. Just me, old and cranky, and missing the values of the past. Most of you folks on UHH are absolutely GREAT. Dennstedt....I read your blog. We need somebody like you to stick around and let somebody know when they're being rude or a bully. Keep 'em in check. The main photo forum is not for any heavy critique. It's for people to post their photos. If they want critique they ask for it. In the section about Introducing Yourself a brand new poster downloaded a nice photo. Wouldn't you know somebody would have to do a critique!! So, don't leave. This place is full of all kinds of people....including a lot of good ones.

'Sincerely' was not the intent. BTW, this commercial banker lost everything: family, job, house, retirement and health. Living in Mexico as an expat photographer. I was just trying to point out that you have an incredible group at UHH, and to let a few bullies taint it is a shame. I know there is no solution, it is the times we live in. I truly wish the good folks of UHH success and enjoyment with their shooting. Photography is the BEST.

okay, now i'm a bully for trying my approach at getting him to stay? did you serve in the military? bullying takes on many forms. which form are you using right now?

Thank you very much. I really appreciate your nice comments. It's me, just too old and cranky for social media. Most of you folks are terrific (I really mean that). I just can't read the negative stuff without wanting to engage (as many of you want to engage with this negative post), but I just don't have the energy anymore. Not trying to be offensive, but obviously I have been. Just be kind to one another ... PLEASE.

But you see, this is what you find in all walks of life, all professions, everywhere. One can not escape it. It seems that many people must become bigger and better at others' expense. Whether it is racism, bullying, and so on.
If the environment poisons you, then you need to remove yourself from it. But most of our 'environments' are poisonous to some extent or another. I remove myself from caustic relationships and have divorced my self from bad girlfriend relationships, as well as a caustic marriage. I found this forum to be disheartening at times. Not in terms of people attacking me, but how they attacked others. I have trouble with that and often came to their defense. But I ignore it most of the time now, unless they are being particularly mean to someone.
I just want the good, search out the good and brush aside the negative. I do this because I keep learning so much.
I do understand how you feel, and as I said before, I felt that way too, in the beginning, but had a change of attitude and am glad I stayed around! I wish you the very best!!!

if you are set on leaving, then please don't pull the bully card. give us the respect you say we deserve. you are leaving because you are old and tired of cyberspace. i totally understand this. if you look at how frequently i post, you'll see that i visit this site only occasionally myself. i was encouraged when i saw a new member giving clear useful information, and now you are pulling the plug because someone allegedly bullied you. if i thought saying i wanted you to stay had any impact on your decision, i would do it. so i tried a different approach and immediately got labeled as a backhanded bully---funny really. unfortunately, i won't be leaving so these folks will just need to learn how to avoid my posts. you lost everything, huh? well, join the club. i think it's a crime on vets, but that's another thread.

No claim about it. I was, and proudly so. Sergeant Stephen F. Dennstedt, USMC 215667. Dates of service 1965 - 71 (Vietnam 1967 - 68 inclusive of the Tet Offensive 1968). You have no idea.
I lost everything as a commercial banker trying to protect and serve my customers: family, job, house and retirement. I live the simple life of a broke (expat) photographer in Mexico. I fought the system and lost.
I meant no disrespect ... though I can see how it could be perceived as such. Apologies for that. For the most part you have an OUTSTANDING group of warm, caring and supportive people. However, you have a small minority that taint your objectives. I am too tired to engage with them further. I 'truly' wish you all the best.
