Ill bet you Floridians had heard the last from me. Well, I'm home and working on my photos for a book I want to make from my trip. Again thanks to all of you for your help and patience.
In the attached photo I can see 3 or 4 types of bird. Thanks to BigBear I can spot the Willets and Sanderlings but the larger, darker birds in the water, on the right are not matching up with and birds in my books. Just as I think I have them identified I notice that the bill is too long or too short or the wrong thickness or the patterns on the head are wrong.
With the number of them they must be a common bird, so please, a little help again.

Those are godwits.
Thanks BigBear. There were 2 or 3 kinds of Godwits. Is there one kind that is prevelant in your area?

We don't get them regularly. Mostly when they are here it's because they were pushed up by a storm. And when we get fallout there can be so many different varieties.
Many of the larger birds in the foreground are Godwits. One of the birds in the background looks a lot like a Whimbrel.

Thanks EarthArts. I'll check out the Whimbrel.

That makes sense. The day we were there it was very windy, even blowing sand a little. And, the birds landed all together in a more sheltered lagoon. I'm glad I got to see them. The first full day in FL I took a photo of a large, not very pretty bird. When I looked it up that evening it was Wood Stork and is an endangered bird! Then two days later, out with Larry and Gracie, I saw a nesting big blue heron! Then there were the owls on Honeymoon and Osprey everywhere nesting. And the quiet beauty of Booker and Wheedon. So many choice memories in just two weeks.
sounds like you had a good time in my neighborhood! there are so many places to go where you will be sure to see something special on any given day! Glad you enjoyed your visit!
Yes I certainly did. I have a little Yorkie too. His name is Fergus, all 6 lbs of him!

Well, I should hope so! Fergusis a perfectly beautiful little pup! My Reagan is an imperfect specimen but perfectly adorable and a very sweet little guy! they are a pleasure, aren't they!
No such thing as imperfect love.
Fergus, tiny as he is is not a pup. I wish he were because he'll be 11 in Nov. Thankfully he is very healthy.
When people see Fergus and tell me that they want a Yorkie I give them fair warning that they will be inviting a perpetual three year old child into their home. They expect constant attention; even while sleeping they are glued next to you or on you. Their rule about bad manners is ignore the scolding and look cute. Baths and teeth brushing are to be avoided at all costs but if caught in one of those tortuous situations look sad and miserable making you human feel terrible.
After my husband died and my twin boys were on their own I decided I wanted a dog. My two favorites are a black standard poodle or a Yorkie. Talk about ends of the spectrum. I think I made the right choice for me but if a black standard walk into my life I couldn't turn him away.

I see that we have a few things in common, ie. my husband is also deceased, the kids are off and running and Reagan, who is 9 years old, is my best buddy. We have had several dogs and I must say that when it is time, I will most probably choose another demanding, entertaining, endearing Yorkie!
