HDR is not so complicated, but getting from the target you point your camera at to the final HDR can be done in many different ways. It is just like when you travel, you can choose from using your, car, an airplane, a train, a boat or a taxi to name a few. All can get you to the destination, but the experiance and the quality of trip varies. It is the same with HDR, there are many different methods that give you different quality and speed but all will deliver HDR pic in the end of the process.
You just need to choose the method you think fits your needs best and experiment.
Excellent read.. Thanks for sharing
Nightski! There is no charge for Picasa 3, or upgrades, that I know of. This section is the one with a bunch of effects that can be done with just a click and then using sliders to give you as much detail as you want for shadows or highlights. I'm enclosing the sample that I answered forum for of the so-called blue moon that I shot last fall. This is the only thing that I've done with it so far! I needed the moon to hold some detail as well as the rooftops. Enjoy!

Thank-you, Dryart, I already have Picassa on my computer. But I will have to check for the update on it.
Nightski! I love your handle-name! Glad I could be of help! Like I said before, that picture of the moon is only time that I've used the HDRish setting on my Picasa 3. I'm an old school photographer, myself - I don't believe in changing pictures except when it's necessary. We did a lot of burning-in and dodging in B&W in the old days in our darkrooms - this digital is much easier and much faster. I was a press photographer for 10 1/2 years in PA and NJ - many if not all newspapers are now into digital for the speed in making a print and the cheaper-than-film cost.
