1. Have you been there and done a self drive tour?
2. Did you take a helicopter ride? Got an operator to recommend?

Well EX-TELCO, you are one step ahead of the rest of us.
You didn't ask the question right. But the answers are still the same.
I was stationed in Iceland 1960,1961. At the behest of the U.S.A.F.
There have been a lot of changes since then, so I won't be much help.
But good luck if you plan to go there.
1. Yes Stationed there for 2 years
2. Yes I flew courtesy of the U. S. Navy. I never had to pay
Thanks for the responses - none of them really current so I will to search on my own.
But I do appreciate your time.
I lived there for 48 years. The roads vary a lot, gravel roads in the highlands (where you find lot of beautiful places to photograph). But most of the roads or ok, just be careful as always. Helicopter tours are possible but I think a better choice is to stay on the ground. Check VIP Iceland
www.vipiceland.is. They have guided lot of photographers. A 4x4 glacier trip is something you should try.. Best time to visit is mid june to end of sept.
