A novice having a go at B&W conversion

As it's cold wet and grey and I don't fancy going out with the camera, I thought I would play with a picture I took last summer at a the Hatfield Country Show.
I converted the image using Serif PhotoPlus (I can't afford PP) with my then new Canon 600D and the 18-55 kit lens.
I then thought it would be nice to put the eagle somewhere else...Yosemite.

I am just dipping my toe in the post processing world.

Good try! A bit too dark. Black and white is usually best where there is a lot of contrast in the photo.

I like them both. You did a great job on erasing that background. A Serif PhotoPlus. Need to check it out.

Love the look, just a tad lighter, and I think that you have a wall hanger.

Like any new toy...I probably got too excited with the RGB sliders and whacked them all over too far!

I will give it another go and try some restraint this time...

Good first attempt. Good background change but over all to dark. Needs to be lightened up and have more contrast. I played with it a little and can show you the results if you like. It turns out to be a really great picture you have.

Yes CD, I would like to see what you have done with it.

I did this in about 30 sec's. More time could make them great. Hope you like. It was good material to work with.

I like it better, but I'm certainly far from an expert.
