Ok, I am going to post a few pix from my photo safari to Africa last week. I know some of you guys can be kinda brutal, so I hope these are decent "first attempts" at big game photography.
The Acacia tree photo just "happened".
We were up on Observation Hill in Amboseli game park and I saw these elephants walking away. I zoomed in on them after seeing the line they were in, plus the dried up lake/marsh area, the dust and the interspersed clumps of grass.
The zebra scene looked so pastorale.
The sun was setting and this giraffe was standing all by himself as we were driving by.
The Lion was not co-operative at all. He rolled over onto his back, and was laying under the tree. So, it was hard to even get a decent photo of him, but this was so funny. He was acting like a little ole pussycat. He was just begging for a tummy rub. :>)

   Not bad for "first attempts." I think you did quite well. Thanks for showing. I'd like to see more.
I would have loved to have had your advantage point for taking these pictures! I think it is awesome you had this opportunity! Great pictures, thanks for sharing and I too would love to see more?
Another one I liked really well. Am getting an 8x10 of this one.

   love the giraffe!
And here are a couple more.
The elephant face screams "Africa" to me.
And the Cape Buffalo is seeming to say "Nothing beats a good cud to chew and a rest".

   Beautiful! Ahem ... your wildebeest is a cud chewing Cape Buffalo. Thanks for showing.

   WOW!!! That one (Wildebeasts at dawn) would be a 20x24 on canvas if I was hanging it on my wall. Thanks for showing.
Oh, gads, I knew that.................sorry, my bad. LOL Just been looking at so many of each that I just mis-typed.
I have gone back and corrected it.
These are all well done.
Pierre
All great pictures but really like the lion on its back.
The lion one was the hardest to get as he was under the trees and it was getting nigh onto 6 pm and the light wasn't great. Go back and look at the lion..........take a gander at the size of those back paws. Scary. LOL
Anna, Some wonderful pictures and memories. I especially liked the Zebra as the whole setting says AFRICA! I can't wait to go back, thank you for sharing :)
