Hello again, I haven't done much recently, been busy catching up with my card making & watching the grandchildren (hard work) LOL. Today I took a run down the Clyde Valley to New Lanark ( World Heritage Site )Took some shots around the village before walking along the river towards the Falls of Clyde. There are 4 waterfalls, but I only managed to get 1 as it was very muddy and slippery. I took a few shots along the way before making my way back to the car. Should have had my walking boots on. Hope these are ok.
Thanks
Jeanette

Very nice series. What are the many large buildings that look like dormitories?

They definitely make me want to come there. I really have no desire to go to England proper but I find Scotland, Ireland and some of the Isles very attractive for scenic shots.......

Hi Charles, this is a beautifully restored 18th century cotton mill village. The mills operated until 1968 they went into decline. In 1974 the New Lanark Conservation Trust was formed to prevent the village being demolished. By 2006 most of the buildings had been restored. It is now a major tourist attraction. It is one of five (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites in Scotland. United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization. About 200 people live there, some of the houses were bought by individuals as derelict shells which they restored as private houses. There are also rented properties and a hotel. I just found out yesterday there is a roof garden on top of one of the buildings, I think that would be nice to visit on a good day. Hope this info. helps. If you wish you could check the website. www.newlanark.org

Thank you for the information. I have also done some research on New Lanark which was very interesting. In its day it was very forward in how it treated its workers and the families and was considered to be very progressive. This was a nice project that you have done and thank you for sharing it.

Thanks Andy for looking and commenting....I appreciate it very much....I intend going back and doing the tour....It's years since I was last there....Don't know if you remember the Smiddy...the shop that sold furniture, carpets and unusual gifts etc. well it's no longer there....it's moved out of the village, I think it's in Carluke now.
