My baby sister Esther was brutally murdered in July of this year by a ex boyfriend of 5 years. I used a photo I took a couple months ago of a sunset and merged it with a photo of my sister. I added her to the upper left corner of the photo.

Can't imagine how you get through something like that. You created a beautiful rememberance for you and your family.

More than just a beautiful photo, it touches your heart and bring you closer to God. All of you who have shared your loss with us will be in my prayers. When you were born, God gave you eternal life. No one ever dies. The human body does, but not the person. I know from personal experience. I had a near death experience the night after heart surgery 5 years ago. Take comfort in knowing your loved ones are in perfect health and loved by the lord. God bless to all.

I find this very hard to share, but I'm in hopes of bringing comfort to you by sharing my story.Ta1on, I am so sorry for the lost of your sister. We all grieve in different ways, but since I lost my big brother in Feb.2011 ,I can relate to your pain.Ian,there is no pain like the loss of a child. My heart goes out to you because I too have lost a child. My son drown in 1996, and you are right when you said"The pain never goes away", but we learn to live with it every day. Please check out this web site , www.compassionatefriends.org. On Dec. 11,2011 there will be a" worldwide candle lighting", 24 hour wave of light around the globe to honor loved ones.At 7pm light a candle and let it burn for one hour.Talk about your love ones, share funny stories, look at pictures, whatever brings you comfort. At the end of the hour it will be 7pm in the next time zone and they will light thier candles and this will go from one time zone to another until it goes around the globe. I have been doing this for the past five years and get great comfort from it, hope you do also. God Bless

I don't usually check out the photo postings so much as reading the questions and responses. Something prompted me to look further today and I am glad I did. My family and I will be attending the candle lighting to pay tribute to my son. He was killed a few months ago by a careless driver who our legal system allows to continue to drive. Compassionate Friends has been a wonderful place for us to begin the healing process and learn that we are not alone in our pain. It was a year ago that I last saw my son and was able to tell him I loved him. It was the last time I was able to hug him... While this is not a forum for emotional support, this particular posting really touched my heart. Thank you Ta1on for starting it and sharing a fantastic photo. I hope, in time I will be able to do something similar with a photo of my son. He is forever 22.

First, let me extend my condolences to you and your family in such a tragic loss. I have lost two brothers-in-laws and a sister-in-law in the last two years. In fact a brother-in-law is being buired tomorrow. I have been thinking of how to give something to the family in rememberance of them (all brothers and sister) and you have come to my rescue. Your tribute to your sister is amazing. Could you please tell me what program you used to create it?
I have a number of relatives I would like to make one for. in fact I am going to make some for my family who are left for the ones who have passed on. It is the most beautiful tribute I have seen. God bless you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear of your losses Uncle Wiggley. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To create the photo, I used PaintShop Pro4.

What I did was loaded the picture of my sister, then cropped and resized to the size I wanted it to be, then saved the cropped image. I then opened the newly cropped photo of her, I then opened the sunset photo in a new layer over top of Esther's cropped photo.

I then used the erase option to remove the sky from her photo (opacity was set really low, if I remember correctly somewhere around 10-12) This barely exposed her photo in the sunset layer. At this point I chose the clone option with the opacity set really low on it as well. I then cloned the sunset photo back over top of Esther's photo.

I will say it wasn't all that hard to do, just time consuming as I had to try several times to find just the right opacity in both erasing and cloning to get the right combination to work as I desired.

If you need any help please feel free to send me a pm and I'll do all I can to help you with this.

Again, all my prayers and thoughts are with you and yours.
