The price of these cameras have come down in price on amazon such as the canon t4i with 18-135mm lens(stm) has come down to $799. The t3i with same lens to $649. Has anyone upgraded from the t3i to the t4i and are you happy with it. From your experiences with it does it take better quality pictures since it has the digic v processor. I have read the reviews on amazon for the t4i,but would like your opinions. I am leaning towards the t4i. (the 60D is not in my budget)I presently have the canon sx40 which is a good point and shoot camera, but would like to enter the realm of dslr"s. Thanks!!

I upgraded from the 3ti to the 4ti, and I LOVE, love, love, it!!! I wish I could have kept my 3ti, but my daughters were fighting over it! I gave it to my older daughter, and bought my younger daughter a new 3ti. They take amazingly beautiful pictures! You won't be disappointed if you decide to purchase the 4ti.

I have both the T3i and the T4i. It depends on what you want to do. The T4i is much better for video with better focusing lenses available. I like the touch screen option on the T4i it seems to make adjustments a little quicker. I use the T3i as my backup. You can google the 60d vs T4i, there are some comparison sites available if you want to go that way. Hope this helps.

I have had the pleasure of shooting most of the Rebels Starting with Xsi. Currently am carrying T2i and 60D. I also would jump you up 60D or 7d. I have friends that use both. But how could you do this as price is an issue. I believe also as been pointed out refurbished my be the most cost effective way to go. Cannon just before Christmass had deep discount on their product. Get on Cannon's mailing list keepwatching their web site. I want to add a full frame. I would like 5D 2, that camera hasbeen $1407.00
I don't have the open to buy at this time. I am on a limited budget. Hell we all are if trueth be told. It's alway good to have a warchest. I am currently trying to buy a macro for spring flowers.

You currently have a quality body, keep on shooting and someting at budget will turn up!

I moved from the SX40 to a T3i and am completely happy. With the 2-lens kit, I have plenty of zoom power - even though it is less than the SX40. I don't shoot video, so I saw no need to consider the T4i

I own the T2i, and I love it. I can't give a source, but I remember someone here posted a link comparing these (T1i, T2i, T3i, T4i). I was shocked to see that the reviewer said that the image quality was the LOWEST on the T4i (different sensor ?????). If you are into video, Canon has started a line of lenses with "STM" in the name. These work on any Canon, but are made especially for the T4i to shoot video. They give constant, smooth autofocus when moving from subject to subject. If you are in need of something FAST (sports, wildlife, etc..), I would suggest the 7D. I was shooting eagles last fall with the T2i, the guys on either side of me were using the 7D. It's like I was in a foxhole with a bolt action rifle, and they had machine guns. The T2i has 1 dot for center focus, the 7D has a cluster of 5, making it easier to lock onto your subject. Personally, I think as long as you have decent glass, you can't go wrong with any of these cameras.

what reviewer said that the image quality was better on the t3i than the t4i? is this the general consensus of opinion of the ugly hedgehoggers? i would think that the image quality on the t4i would be equivalent to that of the t3i or better. Thanks for your help. The 7d is out of the ? for me budget wise.

any problems with the touchscreen so far as breakage of screen. Do you notice that the screen gets smudged easier than the t3i screen. And are you using the touchscreen feature often? Thanks!!

Hey, Redford. On my 3Ti and 4Ti I notice no difference of smudges being worse or better. Part of the upgrade on the 4Ti was to make the glass more smudge proof. Another upgrade was to put in a stereo speaker rather than mono speaker for the video. it was also upgraded to take more photos per second and increased megapixels. there were more upgrades, but i dont remember them all right now. As for the quality of pictures, I NEVER heard any HH person say the 4 was worse than the 3. To me they are both amazing! I upgraded because I thought the touch screen would be cool, and I totally absolutely LOVE it! I got my first 3Ti kit with 2 lenses from QVC.com at a fantastic price and had 30 days to try it out. I loved it and kept it. My two girls fought over it constantly and took amazing photos easily, with it!! So when the newer model came out, HSN.com had an amazing bargain, so I ordered it. I researched thoroughly both units before ordering the first camera kit. I researched the 4Ti for a couple of months first also. You can't go wrong with a 30 day return policy! I gave my first camera to my older daughter and ordered another 3Ti kit from QVC.com, (fantastic sales price!), for my younger daughter. All 3 kits came with a nice large Canon equipment bag, memory card, 2 lenses, and DVDs, instruction books... There's NOTHING negative about either one! As a matter of fact, the 4Ti kit cost me less than the first 3Ti kit that I bought! If you have any question, feel free to PM me!

Here is one of those reviews:

Take it with a grain of salt.

My friend is excited about his T4i, after attending a seminar on HDR photography and finding that the T4i composites HDR in camera by taking three bracketed captures of the same image and blending them to capture more detail in highlights and shadow. Previously HDR was done in software during post processing taking 3 images bracketed for exposure.

He is impressed.

The T3i does not do in Camera, HDR. The T4i is the first Canon to offer in-camera HDR for Canon, and for many other manufacturers.
