But 99 times out of a hundre the end product was exactly what came out of the camera. One thing I will admit---I bought bulk 35 mm film, both color and B&W. I rolled my own cassettes and my cost were low so , even then, I shot a lot to get a good one.

I agree with shooting a lot to get a good one. I still do that. I used to roll my own when I worked for a newspaper. Anyway, you're free to post anything you feel you owuld like to post. No one will say anything negative to you. We just like to show other people our pictures and hope them enjoy them for what they are. I look forward to seeing some of yours.

If I remember right I have seen some and they are very good. So look forward to seeing more of them.

I get the impression that you are one of the residents that is not to be questioned. Well I have a question: You want a (seemingly 1) B"best shot. Then you post some---what do you want? A shot or shots? By the way, I interpret "shot" as unadulterated---no PP(yuck)--so do you want the best shot, out of the camera or something contrived?
quote=aleone63 Yes hedgehogs... we are at that ti... (show quote)

Gramps, I know it's post "what ever you want to post". Straight out of the box and/or as you call it contrived. And as many as you want to post. This is a friendly challenge and today you can post what ever you feel like posting. Usually it's what ever you think is your best picture of the past week, but at least for me I usually post from archives.

Just wondering in the old days when you shot film did you show people the negatives or did you print them to the best of your ability? And I don't mean that is a bad way. In the old days we shot film and printed. Today we shoot and post process, our computers have become our darkroom. I'm not crazy about what some people do to their pictures, but they certainly have a right to do what they want to with them.

I rarely ever show something that I have not worked on in the computer. Sometimes it's just taking a dust spot off, but most times it's correcting colors and a couple of other things.

And Aleone63 is the overall host of the challenge, our fearless leader.

I attempted a reply, but it ended up posted down stream.

So You don't have to look for it:
In my darkroom I produced clean negatives. Yes, I did some cropping and in an emergency, I would burn or dodge a neg that I needed. But no, even my friends that ran pro labs, we did little if any "PP". In fact "post processing" was not part of the vernacular. Did I show my subjects my negatives? Of course not. But 99 times out of a hundred the end product was exactly what came out of the camera. One thing I will admit---I bought bulk 35 mm film, both color and B&W. I rolled my own cassettes and my cost were low so , even then, I shot a lot to get a good one and in that time "Raw" was something uncooked or "dirty".

Nice gramps. I also like the size of the name on the photos. Some I have seen are too big and detract from the pictures.

Well Gramps you can question me anytime... The idea of the challenge is what you want to intrepret as... "shots" are always good. We have so many different level of experience here at the challenge, many working on what ever skill they want to perhaps perfect... Some people are getting in to post processing and just finding new things to expand their minds, hone their skills and all around become a better photographer, pp or not. Ansel Adams did it we like to play too. If there is anything you captured recently that you looked at after downloading it to your computer that made you smile and say hey... I did good.. post it... or respectfully for those who like to get into the pp sandbox and play after taking a ho hum shot and improved it post it. I am easy! ;)

The first one is my buddy I played with in a rock and roll band
in the 60's and 70's. I haven't seen him in almost 40 years and took this a week ago, he's still going strong and one of the best sax men on earth. I couldn't resist the PP. I think it would make a good album cover, but I don't think they do them anymore:-)

The second is one I usually dislike, way too much pp, and I have no idea how I did it, but I like it.

The third has no PP other than cropping and a frame.
