Bob Powell Loc: Wilmington, OH

Another old fart, 71, born and raised in NC but serving out my time in OH for my sins. 10 years into a wonderful second marriage. Between us, Bonnie and I have 7 children and 7 grandchildren ranging from 21 to 2 weeks. I spent 20 years in the Air Force, split about half and half between flying and R&D. Since "retiring" I have worked as a defense analyst, code monkey, scientific computing guru in an ecology lab, satellite image analyst, math professor, and field ornithologist. This is my fourth foray into photography, the previous attempts having been interrupted by the exigencies of career, family, etc. I shoot mainly nature and landscapes with Canon gear. I always wondered whether my pictures were mediocre because I used mediocre gear or because I was just a mediocre photographer. At last I have superb gear and my pictures are still mediocre.

This pic is 10 years old, but at my age, you don't change much.

I am James however I go by Buddy36 as that was my nic until I was 15. Born in Tennessee and moved to Chicago when I was 15. Married at age 17 and my wife and I had four children. We are retired now and live in WI. Life has been good. I was a police officer for 9 years on the North Shore of Chicago and then got into the Car business and was a service manager for many years before retiring. Also was a deputy sheriff for 17 years during that time.Living in a Senior Citizen housing is good! Lots of people to talk with about the good ole days. And of course I am trying my hand at picture taking as well. So for being 75+ I am grateful for what we have and had during our lives.

OK, here's another member of the "Old Farts" club.
I just turned 66. I'm a retired (7/2010) NYC science/computer teacher (whew!) Married to my wonder wife for 21+ years (2nd marriage for both of us.) We have 4 kids between us, living once again in 4 different states. My oldest son is 39, a USN CPO, next is my stepdaughter, 35, a chem professor, my youngest son, is 34, owns a pool cleaning biz, and my stepson, 33, does statistical analysis. I have a BEOOOOTIFUL, and smart granddaughter who will be 2 this month.
I love to travel, photography, computers, technology anything that whirs, clicks, blinks, or moves, and did I say I love photography?
Here's a picture of me & the missus in Aruba, winter of 2009.

Oh what fun!!! Great idea! My name is Deb and I'm a 59 year old widow, living in California but retiring next year and moving back home to Birmingham, AL where I grew up. Can't wait! I just recently fulfilled a longtime dream of owning a digital SLR (I bought a Nikon D5100) and taking photography classes and I'm hooked!!! The more I learn, the more I want to learn! I absolutely adore this forum - I love getting ideas from all the pictures posted and learning how shots were taken. I'm just like a sponge soaking up all this knowledge and experience from all of you who've been at this much, much longer than I have! Thank you for sharing!!!

I`m usually BEHIND the lens. So there`s not many images of myself. I found this one. I`m 58. Born in New York City. Served my time during the Viet-Nam conflict. Started with film in 80`s I shoot sometimes in film because of certain qualities inherent in film. Of course I also shoot digital.

Susie,
Would love to comply however, last time I was asked for a picture of me, I did not have one. Seems I'm the one behind the camera. Last picture of me taken many years ago. I had two cousins who photography was their hobby, one ,his work was selling cameras. Too old to put these on display even though I look just as young. (ha ha)
P.S. I'm a retired RN worked 50+ years in NY including 15+ yrs in OR. Retired from Community nursing doing sometimes 150 miles per month in Nassau County. Now do photography as my retirement hobby. Beats stringing beads.

I am a retired professional industrial photographer with 25+ years in the business. However, the love of photography goes back to high school when I found a really nice Leica CIII in a 2nd hand store. About 15 years ago while at a huge aircraft factory I burned out on photography and just walked away. Now photography has become an interest again due to the knock your socks off digital cameras available and being retired and able to do what I want when I want.
