This was once an impressive hotel on the seafront of Great Yarmouth UK.
Then the slot machines moved in.
Perhaps the police are making an arrest for a crime against architecture.

The only thing that will stop them (developers) are restrictions that preserve historic buildings. They know if you build it, they will come.

That's horrible. In New York we have a Landmarks Preservation Committee that has to approve any changes to historic buildings. Admittedly, our history doesn't go back as far as yours but you really need to stop these miscreants from doing stuff like this.

One thing is universally true: "It's all about the money."

Yup, that about sums it up, doesn't it.

Even communities with an official ARB (Architectural Review Board) here in the colonies still make some obscene aesthetic decisions based on politics and money.

It is too bad they could not have come up with a design that complimented the building instead of clashing with it.

Over here, odds are they building would be replaced by some piece of modern barfitechture.

I bet ceasers palace in Vegas would be interested in that shot for trademark infringement.

your photo reminded me of something Prince Charles said a few years ago. Modern architecture has done more damage to the London skyline then the Germans did during the blitz!

Yes,that's a real felony. We have a board that does a pretty good job of preventing that in my town of Lakewood,Ohio.

I know you were only trying to put comical emphasis on a good point, but, ....
well...., it is just not a particularly good example for those that were impacted by the devastating 8 month long London Blitz.
