I'm just not sure what is going on here, My cousin took this picture of his daughter in Hawaii-It seems as if she has been photoshopped into the picture..or maybe her head is too big?
Maybe the sun behind her - Or too close at 24mm caused this?
What do you guys(gals) think?
Canon rebel XSi, 18-55 lens at 24mm,aperture at f/14,with a Nikor Flash.
Somethings not right
The way she is posed contributes to her head looking too big and the 24mm, being too close, probably distorted her head.

Thanks, I didn't even consider the pose :)
A perfect example of why we use longer lenses for portrait work - it makes us get farther away for a better perspective.
But I have to agree - her head does look "dropped in."

I agree with others about using a longer lens for portrait. Also, to minimize head/body proportional "distortion" in youth shots, the body should be more squared off. It should be noted that this perceived distortion is a physiological reality, but is minimized by the use of longer lenses. A good "rule of thumb" is to use a lens at least twice as long as a "normal" lens (2X the diagonal of the sensor). For a full frame camera, this translates to at least 85-90mm; for a Canon 1.6X crop camera, an absolute minimum is 50mm and 85mm is better.
Her right arm, the one nearest to the camera, looks like it's bent beyond normal. I'd be happy to do a reshoot -for free -if you provide airfare.

Pardon my newbieness, but maybe a filter over the flash would have helped fix the color. She looks like she's indoors in the middle of an outdoor setting.

Goofy, your ulterior motives are not very well concealed!

I thought I'd give it a try...

Hey, it never hurts to offer.
Thanks CaptainC & Mogul, I'm takin' notes for future reference.
GoofyNewfie, I agree there is something odd about that arm-I'll throw it out there.. to get us "both" sent for the reshoot...But since 'Make a wish' funded this trip, I don't think "our" chances are very good. :)
I was successful once.
Shot a wedding in NC's Outer Banks in exchange for airfare.
apart from the above comments i'd say its simply the horizon is crooked. surprised no one mentioned it.
