Hello. My name is Charles Harris. I work professionally in Phoenix, AZ as a partner at Gibson Harris Photography,
www.ghphotoaz.com. I find some of the topics in this forum helpful and interesting, so I thought I would join and occasionally throw in my "two cents", as they say. I know that asking for trade secrets relating to either the technical, artistic, or business parts of the trade is not met with total candor when you talk to other pros in your own area, undoubtedly because they are competitors and don't want to help you to take business away from them--but here on this site there are photographers from all over the country who have no reason to keep things "close to their vests" because we are so far away from each other and do not compete with each other. It seems that in the '90's and before that fellow professionals were more fraternal with each other and shared insights and skills with each other just because of a shared intrinsic love of the art. But now there is so much competition that it seems that this have changed the way pro photogs interact with each other. Pity really. What are your feelings about this? Is it just my imagination or what?
First, this is a friendly site. Great knowledge base from the collective. I understand where your coming from. Most of the people here are willing to share so welcome aboard.
I think you just nailed one good reason for support of forums.
