I think I understand the effect you were trying to get but I'm not quite sure you nailed it. Over all they impart a feeling a moodiness...and I likeTinat about them. The weaknesses, IMHO, are the blown out white reflected areas on the water and over all the scene is too busy. Keep trying, though. I think there's good potential.

Thx! I do see what you are saying as well. Not to make excuses, that particular camera I shot with that day was a Canon H-10 video camera in still mode. There is no way to adjust any of the lens setting. I did try to make some adjustments using Picasa 3 photo program however this is the best I could come up with. I do appreciate your views on them and will keep your suggestion in mind. Peace... How about these? I don't wish to bore anyone but I do appreciate your feedback. Have A Great Weekend!!

You're definitely on the right track. I love the look of black branches in winter against the sky.
Perhaps correcting the exposure in the center and not cropping quite so closely. More is more in this case. Love the "solitude" shot. A bit of cropping to place the bird in the top left third or top right third would have more impact.
