I am very new to this amazing world of photography and have a canon rebel xs. I have been trying to get a sunset silhouette picture with the subject completely dark. Can anyone help with this?

Welcome to the forum. Put your subject between you and the sunset and meter for the sky. Your subject should be just a silhouette......
