this one might be fun although in some parts of Colorado there is always a weekend getaway with temps in the 60's year round. Lead the way Mom!

I just want temps in the 20's or above 0 please...

Annette, I saw one of my friends who now lives in Minnesota and we were having some high 20's temps in January, which is unusually cold for Georgia. I was complaining about being cold and she told me, "Honey, where I come from this is considered a heat wave!" So, I hope a 'heat wave' comes your way, soon!

LOL yes indeed... In Wisconsin we are out firing up the charcoal grill and we have shorts and a t-shirt on! LOL
Earlier in the week it was -19 yes 19 below 0 and that was not the wind chill... I went outside and blew bubbles... LOL they freeze and shatter!

The topic is "Winterscapes". What does the last weekend of January look like in your neighborhood, your part of the country or in your corner of the world? Maybe your plan is to "winter Escape". If so, show us how you like to escape winter - sitting by a fire, buried in blankets reading a book, in a warmer place.

Here are 2 short videos. One with simple tips for photographing snow scenes. The other a National Geographic one dealing with bright sunlight and photographic options to consider. Videos are 1 - 2 3/4 minutes.

The National Geographic Bright Light Photography (some black and white tips too)

I live in a land of snow and record cold (breaking all records this year).
Here are some winterscapes from Maine. Most were captured today. -8 at 6 AM and about 8F when the pictures were taken

If you being lobster make sure it is cooked. I like sushi however not on the half shell.

P5 Bushido you are too funny. I'll bring a lobster claw to Denver for you. One of those ugly little touristy things with the goggly eyes.

No snow in the forecast here. It was 80 degrees yesterday but this morning with drizzle it was 48 degrees. Here is the aftermath of our "big snowstorm" from 2 years ago.

Here's a trio: our backyard, an exotic winter "bloom", and a snow-topped Clarence, standing guard over our dormant Japanese Maple.

RR, I love fresh fallen snow... In colorado we get it, it warms up a little and melts..... Not sure i would want to be surrounded by it all winter long...lol, but it is nice to look at..

Sher, we get used to it and there are many things to do. It was near -35° windchill and I was in the woods and ran across a fellow walking his dog. They use snowmobiles and travel on weekends from inn to inn, sleep over Friday night and Saturday night come home Sunday late. Presently we are hosting the World Championship Snowboarding race, last week X-Sports ( for those real weirdos why fly all over the place on snowboards, The Winter Carnaval is awesome and on and on and folks stay outside regardless.
