How do you get your name on your photos? I have Lightroom 4. Is the watermark what you use to put your name on your photos? I've tried doing that but I cant get it to save to my presets. Any suggestions?

IMHO watermarks are worthless and just detract from the photos.
Also it seems that at least 80% of those with watermarks on their photos are not worth watermarking.

Watermarks are not that difficult to remove, so why bother? Doesn't really make any difference in copyright issues as long as you can prove you took the picture.

As i said in another post, watermarking can be used for a different than trying to stop people from borrowing/stealing a photo.

I watermark if my pictures are going to be uploaded to my blog and linked to facebook, for one reason and one reason only... marketing and branding (guess that's two reasons). There is no way in H-E-double hockey sticks am I passing up on that marketing opportunity.

If they are loaded on my website as part of my portfolio, then they are not watermarked. People already know who took them are on my webpage and main marketing platform.

To pass up a marketing/branding opportunity is foolish, but at the same time if a photographer thinks a watermark is going to protect you from someone borrowing/stealing your images you are just as foolish.

It is easy to create a watermark and enable or disable it. Just read the manual or go to the tutorials and find it. I cannot remember how to create it step by step, but you create a preset exporting mode with the criteria you prefer like length, width, compression quality, even folder to save it, and also... a watermark.

You can create different watermarks for a certain look and with different information/details and use whichever you want every time or leave a default. It is up to you.

Watermarks are a pain, can't understand your method.

Using LR 4 go to Print Module/Identity Plate/change to your name/select location as to where you want it/thand print as a jpeg on your desktop.

I use this a lot and have my name and year photo was taken (F.Ricciardi / 2013). Works great and is very easy to do. Give it a try

I made a copyright symbol + name watetmark upon exporting. It asked if is like to save the watermark. If you're uploading to FB, or in my case....submitting images as part of a Photog club, you nerd a branding

Watermarking is one way of marking photos but I find that in Picasa there is a very powerfull write facility.
You can choose font, size, and virtually any colour you want. You can place the writing anywhere on the photo at any angle you fancy. Best of all its pretty intuitive.
I use the feature to place a discrete 'Jesse' somewhere on my prints or Flickr images. Better still I can change every feature of the signature to suit every picture, no permanent 'stamp' saved away somewhere.
Stongly suggest you look at this feature.

Japan's greatest pot maker was Hamada. His pots are considered national treasures. He never signed his pots, but you could look at one and say: That is a Hamada pot.

Soon many other potters ceased signing their pots. When Hamada was asked his opinion on this he said: To think my lesser works will be assigned to them and their greater works will be assigned to me.

I can tell a Lang photo by just looking at it. It is not signed.

Is it me or are the answers already given answers to a question that was not asked?
I read you question to be (paraphrased) 'how do I get my signature onto the face of my photograph?'. Seems the answers thus far are about putting watermarks into the paper layer!
Sorry I can't help with an answer to either question but thought a little clarification might be guessed at.
If my assumption as to the exact meaning of your question is anywhere near accurate I wouldn't mind knowing how to capture my signature and have it print on my photographs .
Hope this helps a little.
