Hi everyone, I have a Nikon D80, what is the life expectancy of this camera, as far as shutter count? Mine has 22,000 actuations now, and they say that is 45%.

Who is they?

Shutter count is only one assessment of camera life. Nikon rates their shutter durability based on some reliability criteria. A D80 can go for well over 100,000 shutter accuations before you need to service it.

I have made a site that allows you to check your shutter count by simply uploading a small jpeg right out your camera.

I can find the shutter count on Picasa, by opening a picture and clicking on "Properties." It is towards the bottom

I got it about a year ago, I really like it. I bought it off ebay used, I purchased a 50mm 1.8 lens and it works very well. I always had fixed lens, I would like to get a telefoto lens, but they are pricy.

How do you like yours? How long have you had it? Do you have a zoom lens?

Get Irfanview (free) and also get the plug-ins for it. Start the program, open a photo, click on Image > Information > Exif info.
Get ExifInfo - also free. Unzip and get the icon onto the Desktop. Find a photo and drag it onto the icon. A window will open with loads of info. Look down the list for Shutter Count (or whatever they call it).
