Started with Photoshop 7, then PS CS, CS3 and now CS5. Each one is better than the last.

Hey Rachel, can you give me an example of something you do in PSE9 that you have trouble doing in CS5?

Yeah, I like to put together a photo slideshow to e-mail out to my friends after I've come back from a trip. I know how to do it on PSE, just can't do it on CS5.

Also, having difficulty with the Text on CS5, I want to shadow box some of the text and I can't seem to find the same ones on CS5. CS5 has a lot of text option, but, not the same ones(or so it seems to me) that PSE9 has.

So I do a canvas in CS5, then send it to PSE9 to do the texting with the shadow boxes and highlights.

I need to just look it up and see if I can find out how to do it on line.

It's a poster I'm trying to make for work. Not something I usually do in CS5. Which may be why I'm having so much of a problem.

CS5

I've been using PS since PS 1.5. I've read several touch-up books during the 4-5 versions and have kept up with the upgrades.

However, I've never met anyone who wrote a book or made videos who had PS completely mastered. It is just very massive, powerful, and yes complex program. There are usually several different and effective ways to overcoming an issue you may have with a photo, but you only have to know one of them to get the job done.

I have advanced version with the 3D abilities. I have took a look at that part of it, but over the years I've found that if I just concentrate on how to do the things I need to do and get wrapped up in all of the new features then my world is far less complex.

Today I continue to learn PS (and other photo related subjects) by online video tutorials. Much easier!

CS2 and replaced it with PSE9 fairly recently.
I did an honest self-audit and realised that I only used about 2 or3% of CS2 although I have had it for years. The Elements PSE9 program for $69 (even less now) has more than I will need in however many years the good Lord is going to leave me here; and there are dozens of really helpful video tutorials on line. Just Google "how do I do ..." and you find a bunch of stuff giving the answers. Wonderful!

Okay, so what's the difference between PS and CS? I have seen it advertised both ways and most of the people here have said CS. But the icon on my desktop says PS not CS, this is a little confusing... :?
I just looked at the disc case the software came in and it says "Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended". 4 Had just came out when I got 3 so I got a free update to CS4.

I use CS2 and I am really upset about the new upgrade issue. Adobe is pushing us to upgrade now if we ever want to afford CS6.

This a big mistake Adobe! It will cost you (Adobe) legions of casual users.

I think when Adobe went from Photoshop 7 to CS2 it started naming the program CS. So if you are using a newer version it is CS something. If you are thinking about upgrading to the new version of CS6 in 2012, you will have to have CS5,5.6. or the extended version of these in order to get the upgrade discount. If you are using the extended version it allows you to do 3D drafting I think.

Adobe loves to confuse it's customers. For marketing purposes they now have 2 names for the same thing! I have CS2 but on my Adobe registration page, BUT they call it PS9...CS6 will be PS12!

That's not the only way they are confusing, I don't find Photoshop easy to use. In fact certain things are quite cumbersom and not intuitive. They (Adobe) also seem a bit full of themselves, and they manage to pass that on to some of their users. I know a pro who will not even look at other editing software because "Photoshop is the best". Oh well I supose Adobe just smiles all the way to the bank.

;) ;)

Been a user since Photoshop 1, although when I got to 8, I liked it so much that I never upgraded again, until just recently when I upgraded to CS5.

I'm mostly lost with CS5 still, after two months of studying and using it.

I use Lightroom 3.5 for most daily stuff, but I also have a need for Corel Photo-Paint and Draw, and to a lesser extent Paintshop Pro X4.

If one of these companies would listen to my suggestions, eventually one of them would make a program that had everything in it! LOL
