Not just the Congress, our over worked VP and most federal employees too. This same congress (they really aren't worthy of a capital letter) cut the Social Security raise from the cost of living index because they need to use the funds in the Trust Fund to cover their borrowing.

But, "we the People" are to blame! We keep sending the same idiots back!

Don't count me in that. I didn't vote to send the idiot from our state back, but too many other people did vote to send her back. In our state as long as a candidate has an R behind their name, they get elected and reelected and reelected and reelected etc forever regardless of their performance. Felix the cat could get elected here if he had an R behind his name.

Yes we sent the same idiots back just like the big one in the white house. And he dont have an R in back of his name. We have to vote them ALL OUT. Its them aganst us the sooner the american people learn that our whole goverment is rotton and try to spend more than they have. Our great grandchildren will still be trying to dig out of this mess while we keep blaming each other. That is the way they keep us off their backs. Reps & Dems fighting each other. We should be getting rid of all of them. They are put there to take care of this country not their bribe paying cronnies. Ive said it long before the election and will say it now. VOTE THEM ALL OUT. Anybody that gives you an argument about this on both sides is part of the prolblem.

I'm trying to figure out how some things just don't add up to be a correct answer.
In debt way over our ability to pay it back.
Cut all kinds of programs needed for health & education.
Workers now have to get by on part time work - 40 hr weeks a going out of existence.
See Obama Care #101 for that one.
BUT CEO's of failing companies are getting massive bonuses. Official of Government that have the worst record in 40 yrs get raises.
Oh by the way his Obama Care is very close to knocking out my H&W that came with my retirement it took 40 yrs to acquire - yes 40 yrs of work - 1 unemployment check( because the store I was working in closed - took ONE WEEK to find a new job.
Some of these folks in government need to get a look at what we the working class are doing & have done.
IMHO

Unfortunately, the kings and queens in Washington voted themselves pensions for life, so if you throw them out they will continue to get paid, and then you have to start paying a whole new generation of people who may not be any better than the last group. Representative Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) has introduced a bill to rescind the pay raise, but I don't have much hope that it will pass. It seems that the sentiment in Washington these days is "Ask not what you can do for your country, ask what your country can do for you." It is so disheartening to me, who has worked my whole life (47 years), and played by the rules, to see what is going on, and not be able to do a thing about it. As I see it, our elected officials are usurping power at an alarming rate. I don't think that they should be able to make any laws that have to do with any benefits that they receive. It is NOT their money they are spending, it is our hard earned money they are spending, but they don't seem to understand that concept, and I for one don't want to give them one more dime to squander. Makes me want to buy a piece of land, in a Red State (preferably one of the Western States that are ultra conservative), put my camper on it, and drop out of society altogether. Anyone have a piece of land they want to sell?

They should all be booted out and many charged with conspiracy and racketeering and brought to justice.

No, it doesn't. With the economy in the crapper and unemployment still sky high in over 11 states, we have a president that supposed to be the leader of the free world who treats his office like it's a hobby.

Obama seems more concerned with spending his time on the golf course and doing interviews than running the country.

What kind of world leader allows the clock to run down to the last minute risking a financial disaster because he wants to play politics with the opposite side (which actually wants to be fiscally responsible).

Print all the money you want. Without anything to back it up, you could just as well wipe your A$$ with it because it'll be about as usefull as toilet paper.

What do you have against a raise for our guys in the military? What kind of person are you?

In answer to your question, yes it makes sense to me, read below.
If you stop and think about it Federal Employees have not had a raise in over 2 years, thats ALL employees including clerks from the lowest up. Am sure we all know someone perhaps family members that are employeed by the government.
President Barack Obama issued an executive order to end the pay freeze on federal employees, in effect giving federal workers a raise. One federal worker now to receive a pay increase is Vice President Joe Biden.

"A new executive order has been issued providing for a new pay schedule beginning 'on the first day of the first applicable pay period beginning after March 27, 2013,'. "The pay raise will generally be about 1/2 of 1%."

This includes all our kids in the military thats not really so outragious is it? How many of these chest beaters will have the nerve to say they don't deserve it?

No one is complaining about a raise for federal workers. The sin is a raise for Congress, all of whom make well over $100,000 a year. Biden will get an extra $5, 000 in his check. These guys created this so called "fiscal cliff" and now instead of fixing the problem they are dipping into the cookie jar.

They could easily have given a raise to every federal employee, excluding congress, the President and Vice President until they did their job. However, I believe Obama was the one that wanted to confiscate bonuses that were handed out on Wall Street during that crisis. What makes it OK for him to hand out money during a crisis but not regular businesses to do it?

They created a problem that is going to cost us all big bucks but they are making sure that as they go over the cliff the fall won't hurt as much because of all of our money padding their pockets.

We aren't unionized, thank goodness....Maybe you should visit a school for a month and see what educators have to do besides educate. But then, those who can't or don't have the backbone don't go into education....Maybe you should try to educate those students who could care less and have parents who care even less than they do. My students are great and we, thankfully, don't have a lot of issues other schools do. But my students are still students, like any other that rise to the occasion. Take a good long look at schools and you will see the future, good, bad or otherwise. It's time to quit bashing educators. If you can do better, then by crackies, get out there and do so.

What makes you think that if you moved to a red state that you could drop out of society? Land in red states is VERY expensive. My red state representative takes all of the perks she can and voted against ending the congressional retirement bill and she votes to give big oil all of the breaks possible. Conservative? Not! I'd like to know how, since they are making the decisions, us little people can change the rules and perks for congress. They don't even work a 40 hour week to earn their money.

That is the 64,000 question....how do we get our country back, and sanity in Washington. As to the red states....I would just like to live in the West someplace, love it out there. Maybe it would be a good idea for all the States to throw the District of Columbia out of the Union and make them go it on their own, and start all over again.

It makes sense to the people in Britain. The record there is that the Govt. give themselves a pay increase before increasing taxes etc. so that this does not effect their standard of living.

Most of us out west, except for our governor who wants to bring in all kinds of economic development and pay the incoming businesses to come here out of OUR money, just want to keep our life the way it is. We don't really want an influx of people because we like our life the way it is.

Why is it so called intelligent people propose pay raises on a percentage basis? Are they just too lazy to take the time to break them down? A 2 percent increase for a person who needs it most is around a $1000 for a person making $50,000 while a person who doesn't need it making $250,000 would receive $5000. Does this make sense? That always amazed me when I was in the armed services? Lowly E3's would get maybe a $10.00 a month raise but a colonel or general would get a $1000. The one's that need it most never get it.
But I guess it's a good way to be seen as a nice gesture while stuffing your own pockets.
