This is one of Ruger's best sellers, the original Model (this is variation 3) .22 target pistol. The series began life in 1949 as I recall.

I have the blued version of that pistol. Fun shooter.

More nice work, Dennis. I have this in the 6 7/8 inch barrel. You can drive tacks with it, but it is not a joy to re-assemble.

Thank you very much Ron. Most Ruger .22's are fun pistols.

Thanks Mike. Mine is the 6 7/8 inch barrel too. It works well as a shooter. I understand the new Mark 4 series is a dream to disassemble and reassemble but I just don't like the looks of that model. I like 1-2 and 3 better. Having said that you are correct in that those models can be a bear to take apart and put back together.

Excellent photo of a very competitive target pistol. We most often recommend the Ruger Mark series to new NRA Gallery shooters. A very competitive pistol at a great price point. My MK 111 22-45 has over 30,000 rounds through it and still runs flawlessly.

Thanks very much longmg for stopping by to take a look.
Everything you say about the Ruger .22 series is absolutely true.

I have one of the earliest ones, SER# 3xxx, made in 1950, that my dad bought. Still have the original cardboard box it cane in.
When Ruger, working with the NRA, came out with the 50th anniversary model, I was able to track down and purchase that model, SER# NRA-03xxx (same number).
Unfortunately, Ruger hasn't been too cooperative this time, as I try find the 75th anniversary model with a similar number.

I have a MkII SS with a bull barrelI had custom target gripes installed and fitted to my hand about 15 yrs ago. gunsmith also did a little tuning and made it easier to get the strut to go in place when reassembling after a teardown.
I bought three of the original model 1's back in the 1960's...gave one to my daughter and one to my son. Haven't shot it in years and you got me thinking to take it out to range and put a few shots through it.
Again, another series of great photos, Dennis!!
My first handgun was a Ruger Standard Model .22.
