Yesterday I had a really nice ride through the Pine Barrens on my bike. I came across a scene that I had photographed before; but landscapes are never the same from day to day, so I took out the tripod and tried for a decent composition. I used an old Nikkor 35mm f/2 lens and then added some soft focus and glow from NIK to give it a more painterly style. No in camera effects today. This is all computer generated.

Nice work on this one, Erich. That said, I prefer the other version.

I really like the soft glow you’ve added to this scene.

I like the glow for the left side of the picture, but not what it has done to the bright-white sky. For me, that negates the lovely overall mood.

My personal "fix" would be to reduce the effect in the whitest areas (by layer mask, or within Nik the control points).

I think I like the other one as well. This one, I was trying to go for a painterly effect.

Thanks. They are separate photos; but it is pretty much two views of the same thing.

I was looking for a version that would be more in keeping with the themes in Digital Artistry with this version. Much more processing. I'm in the air about which I prefer.

I think the glow add a bit of a painterly look which is what I was aiming at here. Thanks.

That's a very good idea. I was thinking this version was just brighter in the sky; but I think it is because of the glow. Thank you for pointing that out. Back to the drawing board! Erich

Thank you. I think I'm going to work on it along the lines that Linda suggested. We'll see how that works out. THank you for looking.
