Today I was going to try and capture a rocket launch using the Z9 and Nikkor 800mm PF. Unfortunately the rocket was not visible at my location today because of bright sky conditions.

As I was walking back into the house I spotted a lonely crow perched high atop power lines. He was 1/2 block away. I took three shots and this was the best of the 3. The 800 locked on his eye and stayed there. It wasn't until I downloaded the photo did I realize he had a branch in his mouth. Happy nesting Mr/s Crow.

Thank goodness for the Z9 raw size photos. This photo has been greatly reduced in size and has lost some of its definition in PP and crop. The original file when converted to TIFF was 170MB.

Held up pretty good usually due to good focusing. Most of my wildlife photos are large crops & sometimes HUGE crops with smaller birds. Have fun.

Thanks. Crows are certainly not the photography prize for birds around here. They are EVERYWHERE here. It should be the State bird.

I am looking forward to more dabbling with the 800 and also the Z TCs. I have used the 2X TC and was surprised at how well it worked with the 800 PF lens.
