First: Hospital and through check up ASAP!
Second: Lawyer - heed his or her advice. You may need more than just a new camera and lens down the road.
Third: really unique shot of the squirrel. Nice work.

Thanks. I haven't been great with lawyers. The last one settled my mom's estate, and that was a nightmare, so I wouldn't want to use them again. My one client's mom, who has become, over many years of working with her daughter, like a second mom to me, has a lawyer, so I may ask her.

I don't exactly know the state of my camera as I went to pick it up before and my wrist was hurting too much. I just remember something about the zoom not working, but the settings may have been knocked wrong. Will try and check it tomorrow. Need I guess go to a walk-in clinic as I am really aching and the one bruise is bad. I was supposed to do that today, and this entire day has been a huge blur. Hopefully, tomorrow I can, as I don't have any clients to see.

Thanks for caring! I miss my guys as I try to see them everyday! They've become my happy place.

I'm responding again after reading all of the responses you've received. You mentioned that you haven't had good experiences with attorneys, citing an estate settlement gone awry. In that case, the attorney probably charged you a fee for his work regardless of the outcome. In personal injury situations like yours right now, they work on a contingency, which means that they get a percentage of your settlement. If they don't produce, you don't pay. And they are incentivized to get you the highest possible settlement. Fair isn't one of the considerations on either side of this issue. There are lots of ways to find good attorneys, use them. If you're not physically or emotionally up for it right now, ask a friend for help.

Good luck and God bless.

Barb it sounds as if you and your friend had a bad day(s). Before anything else, do NOT wait, go to a clinic and get yourself checked out. Sounds like you did some damage that X-rays or some other test will discover. Clinic FIRST for YOU. Then contact an attorney. Do not let this slip by thinking you don't want to inconvenience the motorist. You come first and you will have bills and the need for new equipment you may not have money to pay for.

Having said all of that somewhat legalese mumbo jumbo I am glad you are well enough to get around, to post on the forum and to seek assistance. Please take care of yourself. You have friends here who care about you.

GO TO THE DOCTOR!!! Some things can be resolved if treated quickly but not if you wait.

Also talk with a lawyer.

Don't sign any documents until you talk with a lawyer.

Thanks appreciate this!

The liability is clear, and you were injured. You have a claim against the liability carrier of the truck!
Don't be shy about getting your injuries checked out!
Attorneys are lousy negotiators, and they will get 30-40% percent of any settlement you may get.

Yeah, I just want my lens replaced as it sadly broken. I am trying to get the injuries checked.

First, I sincerely appreciate the generosity and support you have expressed. It means the world to me!

I tried to go to the clinic today, and after I filled out all their paperwork, the receptionist told me they couldn't see me because I was in an accident. They told me I have to go to the ER. I won't bore you all with the details, but right now, I am totally alone, and I just don't know if I have the courage to take this next step! LOTS of bad issues with doctor stuff, and some almost to the point of PTSD. I was finally getting happy with my life for the first time in a very long time, and I don't know if I want to do something that could end this. So that is my update!

Thanks again for all the care and concern!!!

Barb forgive my insistence, if that means anything, but as I explained to you there is a good chance you have a broken wrist and/or broken sprained foot/ankle. You need to get over whatever you don't like about hospitals and see a doctor. The longer you wait the worse you could be medically and financially. You also need to contact an attorney as well.

The average clinic lacks the diagnostic equipment and specialists to deal with accident injuries. You may need X-rays, cat scans, MRI's to properly look into your body.

Go to an emergency room that is located in a hospital and get checked-out. You can't afford to take chances with your well-being.

The trucking company's liability insurance will pay for everything. Get a reputible personal injury lawyer.

Just telling their insurance provider that you have contacted a lawyer will greatly increase their 'interest' in your case.

I'm glad you're ok. Be careful out there! I would get checked out and get some rest before worrying about anything else.

Thanks. I'm not sure where to find a lawyer, but I will think on it. I'm honestly kind of scared in that my brain feels very muddled, and I can't remember exactly anything that happened! Have lost track of time. I was going to go to a walk-in clinic, but the day got away from me, and I honestly can't even tell you what I did! Things feel very upside down!

Thanks for the advice it is greatly appreciated!

Barb

So sorry this happened to you, glad you're (pretty much) okay. Personal injury lawyers abound! Just check them out to be sure you're getting a good one, not a shyster. Use Nextdoor Neighborhood to ask for recommendations.

Just an update.

I went to the ER on Friday. Spent 3 hours and was checked out. Basically, I have a sprained ankle, and they wrapped it. Do not recommend, ever going to an ER alone, not a good place, as I felt like a prisoner! As said I don't do well in these situations. If it wasn't for my 82-year-old friend that I was finally able to call while waiting for the results, I'm not sure I would have made it! Yesterday, I was in horrible pain in that I had issues with my chest in that it was difficult to make ANY movement, including even a cough. Fortunately, while there's still some pain there, it has improved. The doctor said that it was probably due to being hit. Pain, however, when I was at ER wasn't at that level, so I guess it's part of the healing process. Worse to get better? I, however, will take any improvement I can get at this point!

I miss my guys, as they have been my sanctuary. Even though my lens is out of commission, I hope to be over there soon. As for the lawyer, I am in the process of trying to find one!

So that's it. One day at a time! Thanks again for all your care and support, it has meant the world to me!

Barb
