My problem is that lots of times I'm driving , taking shots on back roads and can only use one hand to get camera, turn it on, point and shoot, turn it off , put it back in the storage place in my car ( cup holder ) . While paying attention to the road also. I can't do that with a cell phone or big camera.

If I'm driving, I'm driving.
Too many idiots out there.
If I want a picture, I'll pull over.

I upgraded my phone to the Samsung S23 ultra and am amazed at the quality of the photos. It has the option of taking shots in 12m, 50m, or 200m. Also 4 aspect ratios. I'm far from a pro but have printed many of my photos and have them on our walls, some up to 20x30 with my Canon 80D. Now my phone takes better photos and I always have it with me.

Weather permitting, I like taking hikes on Mt Rainier and carrying the camera and lenses was adding too much weight as I'm not as strong as I used to be. Now I'll just take my phone.

I know there are cameras and lenses that are better than my phone, but I can't afford them. Not that the phone was cheap.

The only reason I got this older refurb S10 was to activate my phone, Insta 360, and DJI Pocket. Since it worked on all three devices, I figured it was worth the $150. The reviews were good, and I was able to transfer the sim card from my 2018 Samsung.

One of several reasons I'm keeping my Canon. I can pick it up with one hand, aim and shoot without taking my eyes off the road. I've gotten good at aiming without looking, like shooting from the hip with a gun. Sometimes I still miss a few, but usually they come out good. I can't do that with my phone.

My brother takes iPhone photos with one hand. I've tried using his method, but it didn't work for me.

Snappers - enjoy your phone pics and leave photography to the cameras.

When is a camera not a camera?
When it's broken and can't take pictures.
Then it's a paper weight.

That there are. I only take photos while driving when in National Parks or other scenic areas with no other vehicles close by, and while driving slowly. Never in traffic. I like out of the way places during off season times. And I do pull over for the best shots when there is a place to pull over. Places like Zion, Bryce Canyon, Death Valley, Kings Canyon, Redwoods, to name some, and on the coastal highway from Washing to southern California there aren't that many places to pull over.

I see lots of good scenes while I'm driving, but there's no good place to pull over. I keep track of parking areas for a future picture-taking day. A dash cam comes in handy sometimes, depending.

There's one road in Maine going from Ellsworth to Bangor where it goes uphill at one location to reveal a great panorama at the crest. Beautiful in the fall. Luckily my wife was driving and I could take pictures.
The town put up a BIG sign near the crest of the road:
NO STOPPING TO TAKE PICTURES

I'll guess too many accidents.

Makes a lot of sense; many of us would benefit by using our phone's camera more often.

Over the weekend, I took pictures with both a Galaxy S10 phone and a little Sony WX9 camera. I wasn't shocked to see that the phone pictures were better. I bought the Sony as a $130 refurb in 2012, and I was shooting in Auto. I like it because it's very small and fits into a belt case. Most of my shots were indoors without a flash.

For casual photography, the phone is a good alternative to the Z8.

Here is one aspect I have not seen mentioned yet -- a couple of weeks ago, I posted about wanting a good small lens for discrete street photography and finally bought the Z40 F2. Now though, I think the cell phone might be the best street camera available. Small, and lightweight, takes great photos, and when holding it up, people might just assume you are reading an e-mail. Chances are no one will be posting street shots larger than 11x14 and cell phone shots run through Topaz Gigapixel will be plenty large enough or that!
