Part of the reason you don't see many of these cars is that they debuted a new engine for GM, a 215c.i. aluminum block V-8, and the public was not sure of the durability of this engine resulting in low sales. Another factor is that these engines were sought after for use in racing hydroplanes and yanked out of used cars for that purpose. Being an aluminum block, they made a light-weight power source for a popular class of hydroplanes that was limited to a a certain engine displacement that this motor met. My friend's example of a nice original car is one that retains its original drive train, interior and sheet metal.
